Hello, diesel mechanics.
I have a question for you. It's about my Golf 2 GTD. Yesterday, I was trying to install brake calipers from a Golf 2 16v. I noticed that the brake calipers didn't have a proper guide at the bottom, where they attach to the brake pad holder. Is it possible that the Golf 2 GTD and the Golf 2 16v have different brake caliper holders? Previously, my GTD had standard brake discs, and now I have ventilated ones.
I would really appreciate your response.
Olli.

Hi.
I'm not entirely sure, but the GTD should have the 13" VW2 brake system, while the GTI 16V should have a 14" system.
If I were to do it, I would rebuild everything from scratch and not create a hybrid system. Brakes are not entirely unimportant!

Hello.
The 16V system is available in the 239 and 256 models. The 239 will fit your vehicle as you already have it. However, for the 256 model, you will need different wheel bearing housings because the mounting points for the saddle carrier are different.
Best regards,
Dirk

Oh.
Did both happen?
I meant 239 mm corresponds to 13" and 256 corresponds to 14".
Sorry for the inaccurate submissions. It's been quite a while.
Soon, I will have to consider sizes of 16" (312mm) and 17" (345mm) .

Hello.
First of all, thank you for your efforts.
I'll check with VW; they have a list for that. I definitely want to make sure the brakes are okay.
Regards,
Olli.

Hello.
I can't say exactly what's written on it right now. They are ATE parts for a Volkswagen Golf 2 16V.
The vehicle is at my parents' place.
PS: I called the mechanic, and he told me that there are different brake caliper adapters available for the Golf 2.
Regards,
Olli.
