ESP Light On While Driving: What to Do?

Hello,
I'm having a small problem again.
'My ESP warning light comes on while driving without any apparent reason. When I turn on the ignition, the warning light goes out after about 3 seconds, but then comes back on after about 15 minutes of driving and only turns off when the ignition is switched off. If I start the engine, the light is off, but then comes back on after some time. The ABS still functions, but the ESP is not active while the light is on.'
Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Hello,

It's best to first inquire with the ESP/ABS system why its warning light is illuminated: read the error codes.
It should also indicate if, for example, one of the wheel speed sensors is not providing a proper signal.

Are the same sensors used for ABS and ESP, or are there separate sensors? I suspect there might be a grounding problem with the switches.

Each wheel has only one sensor!
A car equipped with ESP only has one additional hydraulic unit and a steering angle sensor.

This could also be due to the combination sensor for acceleration and rotational rate, installed by ESP, located below the steering column. If the error memory indicates this, it will be quite expensive: the part costs over 500 euros .
