Okay, so I modified the brakes on my A3 and upgraded them to the 312x25mm size.
The brake has a significantly larger caliper and a different mounting bracket.
The conversion is quite straightforward, and the parts can be purchased online.
The system is installed in the larger SUVs (4 Motion, etc.) and the Audi TT.
The only problem is the modification of the recording head. For this, you need the wheel bearing housing from a TT (or similar), which can be found used with low mileage for around 200 euros per pair.
Experiences:
On a particularly winding and demanding stretch of road (where there was little time for the brakes to cool down), the FS III reached its fading point after three to four hard braking sections.
The 312 (referring to slotted brake discs) offers extremely high performance, and the track (24 kilometers) can be driven very quickly.
Towards the end, the braking effect diminishes slightly, and the pedal becomes a bit softer.
(At that time, flexible steel hoses had not yet been installed.)
But, as I said, this only happens under extreme stress.
Finally, it was also noted that the brakes require heat to function properly.
That means that when the brakes are warm, they brake much more aggressively and respond more directly.
(Standard trim is installed!)
By the way, someone here wrote that a Brembo system costs around 1000 euros.
It would be nice...
The appropriate components (brakes from the 911 Turbo / Audi RS2), adapters, brake caliper adapters, discs (322 x 32), pads, etc., are available for approximately €2700 without installation (from brands like Mov'it, ISA Racing, etc.).
For the FSIII system, you also need the wheel bearing housings for the conversion.
I got a brand new 4-piston Brembo brake system at a relatively good price, and I'll be installing it in the next few weeks.
However, for those who don't spend all their time on the Nordschleife circuit, the 312 x 25 system is a great option, as it is very effective and cost-efficient.
If you have any questions...
Sure...
Regards,
Andreas.
