Hello.
I want to install 8' x 17 inch wheels with 225/45 17 tires on my Golf IV. The approval documents (ABE) often state: 'If necessary, ensure sufficient clearance by modifying the body.' So, do the 8' x 17 inch wheels fit a Golf without any modifications, and is it possible to also use wheel spacers (to increase the track width)?
Thank you.
Hubse.

Hello Hubse,
It always depends on the bead depth of the rim.
You'll likely be able to handle ET 40, but ET 0 will probably be more difficult.

Hi.
Okay, normally you should be able to fit 8x17 ET 25-30 wheels with 225 tires on the front and 10x17 ET 20 wheels with 245 tires on the rear without any problems.
Best regards,
Stefan
