The alarm that usually sounds when you forget to turn off the light is suddenly broken on my device!
How can I determine what is broken?
Is there a separate fuse for that?
Or do I need to have it done at a VAG workshop?

The workshop (or you, using VAGcom) can directly access the buzzer via diagnostics and thus determine whether it is the cause of the problem or not. If it is the buzzer, the workshop will naturally only replace the entire instrument cluster (as it is housed within it in many newer vehicle models), not individual components. In that case, you would have to do it yourself.
To my knowledge, there were also vehicles where the buzzer was located in the relay box – please correct me if I'm wrong. As far as I know, this type of buzzer could not be diagnosed.

Before replacing the instrument cluster, it's a good idea to first check the wiring and switches.

Volkswagen Golf 3 Variant TDI, manufactured in August 1995.

Take a look at the Ethernet connector pins; they seem to be loose.

It's possible that the entire instrument cluster has loose connections!
I had one where several contacts were only lightly touched by solder, and therefore eventually reported errors.
It started with the coolant and then progressed to the battery diode.

I then resoldered several connections, and now everything is working again...
