Okay, okay...

I just spontaneously decided to increase my oil change interval to 120,000 kilometers (or miles).

But another question: How the heck did this happen? And: Actually, the belt should run in the middle, even if it's only as wide as a shoelace!

Well, the pulleys have a larger diameter in the center than at the edge. A narrow belt will move towards the smaller diameter.
I don't understand why the pulleys aren't thinner in the middle.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Hi,"

@Wolfi_b: Exactly because the pulley in the middle has a slightly larger diameter, the belt should run in the middle. The belt only sees the gradient, not the absolute diameter icon_confused.gif.
Based on what I see in the picture, the belt appears to have split lengthwise because a portion of it wasn't running on the pulley but was instead beside it. I strongly suspect that something is wrong with the pulley itself. Perhaps VAG-Tuning can shed some light on this.

Regarding brake pads... it's also possible to get by with less! I once had a similar experience with an Audi 80, type 89... it was metal on metal (the rotors were already due for replacement), and you wouldn't believe the braking power you can achieve with just a little more pressure on the brake pedal (and how beautifully red they glow in the night after a long drive icon_smile.gif).

Best regards, Martin.
