According to "rumors," some of the VW vehicles used by DHL (formerly Deutsche Post) have a red LED that indicates when regeneration is occurring.

- Is this correct?

If so, how was it implemented, and can the solution be applied to vehicles of the same type?

There are vehicles like postal service vans or taxis that are treated differently than regular customers.

There is also the implementation of special requests. For example, a regeneration display in the speedometer. I believe it involves signal evaluation via the CAN bus icon_wink.gif.

Then one has to wonder why there aren't any retrofit solutions available for it yet.
"DHL isn't doing this just for fun, and there are plenty of other operators for whom it would make sense."

CAN components aren't that expensive anymore, and you can even find them integrated into Atmel AVR microcontrollers.

It's likely that a Chinese vendor will soon make it available on eBay.
((Possibly a product idea for Kaufmann Automotive GmbH))

What do you think about that?

Specifically for short-distance operation:

- Nice to have.
- Necessary
- Redundant

This is not an 'add-on solution'; it's implemented in the speedometer and, depending on the initial configuration, either activated or not. icon_wink.gif

Thank you.
I'm familiar with that feature from my experience with an Audi and its Multi Function Display (MFD).

In our Golf 6, manufactured in 2010 with a 1.6L engine (CAY), the regeneration process is mainly noticeable by the increased idle speed.

I thought it might be an external LED that's not integrated into the speedometer or instrument cluster, but I'll double-check.

Is there any documentation or guide to enable this feature?
It's frustrating when a regeneration process is interrupted multiple times; it's probably not good for the filter either.

Hello!

Please specify what types of vehicles you are referring to.
I know quite a few people who I might be able to get more information from.

Hey, is this feature already included in every speedometer, or is it a kind of "speedometer tuning"?

There are certainly enough freely available lights that could be misused.

It's due to the processor or the firmware. If it exists, it only needs to be activated. icon_wink.gif

I would really love to have a lamp like that in my Passat too.

I believe our service T5 also displays this information. They have an "exhaust symbol" in the interface that turns on at some point and disappears after the gasification process is complete.

Really?

The "dog walking light" only turns on for ordinary people if all previous attempts at regeneration have failed. Then, you have to go onto the highway or country road, and eventually, the light will turn off.

It also works if you have it regenerated through diagnostics.

They are consistently brightly colored, flashing service UFOs. icon_wink.gif The yellow street light also turns on during the bulb test ("Ignition" turned on without starting the engine), but then goes off after a while.

Yes, after 2-3 seconds - or is it?
That also includes the MIL, ESP, and the rest of the Christmas tree lights.

"Displaying active regeneration status while driving."
Because that's exactly what they're keeping quiet about, so that no retiree rushes to Volkswagen in a state of hypochondria, worried about what else might be broken.

Don't laugh, this has a current context: I know older people who accidentally press the MFA buttons while steering and then instead of seeing the km/h display, they read something like "Oil temperature 91 degrees" and are initially startled, stop, and turn off the engine... Afterwards, "no further warning occurred," so they continued driving. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, exactly. However, our service UFOs seem to be configured in such a way that they also indicate this with a light during operation, even when regeneration has started. We should check the user manual to see how it's described there. Until now, I actually assumed that was the normal behavior. I also noticed the altered engine noise at the same time.

Hello,

Does anyone perhaps have a possible text for this adaptation channel?
My AI has a whole forest of access points.

Currently, it seems that tuners are increasingly focusing on AI features; for example, the "staging" feature has now been unlocked in the G VI software for models other than GTD, GTI, and R.

For Rainer, such a "dog walking LED activation" feature would be a nice business idea, if it were feasible to implement.

"If the DPF light was a dual-LED indicator, that would be awesome."

Green - I'm next.
Yellow - help me, driving on the highway.

And soon, we too will have fully programmable, full-TFT AI systems, just like in the CLS (and related models).
