Hi there,

A truly interesting analysis that ultimately suggests avoiding the use of mixed fuel (with PÖL) if you intend to use the vehicle or engine for an extended period.
It would be interesting to see how the results would have been if it had been operated using RME (rape methyl ester). I wonder if there would also be problems with coking or similar issues in that case?

So far, we've driven about 20,000 kilometers with the Passat.
Of that mileage, approximately 17,000 km were driven using a PÖL mixture. No modifications have been made.
We use a blend of 70-80% rapeseed methyl ester (RME) and the remaining percentage diesel, depending on the temperature.
Instead of a physical modification, the driver's software was reprogrammed.
Shift up to around 2200-2400 RPM when the engine is cold.
and of course, don't always accelerate with full throttle.
Furthermore, the oil change intervals have been reduced to 8-9 thousand kilometers.
So far, everything seems to be fine.
