Hello!
I encountered a very similar problem with a customer's vehicle not long ago. The issue was always the same: after some time, the display lighting would go out, the car would get very warm (maximum heating), and it would become impossible to adjust anything. Initially, using a Vag-Com diagnostic tool didn't provide much information because no error codes were stored. I then installed a different climate control unit, and it worked perfectly. So, I thought the problem was in the details and decided to disassemble the old unit. After some searching, I found two or three suspicious solder joints (cold solder joints) and also replaced a capacitor that had already started to leak its electrolyte."I had distributed the components across the circuit board, reassembled the part, put it back in the car, and now it's working perfectly again. Just take a look at your circuit board; maybe you'll discover something. If you're looking for used replacement parts, check out
www.retek.de; you can find those parts for very little money. I highly recommend this company if you want something that's not too expensive."
See you later...
