Hi!
My car has the basic navigation system (the controls are located near the cigarette lighter in the center console, and the display is monochrome, situated between the speedometer and the tachometer). As a radio enthusiast, I have the Symphony (the first model).
Is there an easy way to install a large color display navigation system?
Original Audi or a product from a third-party manufacturer?
My question:
'When I install a Blaupunkt part, are there adapters available to add the pictogram displays, like those found on a small navigation system? And what about the CD changer (for audio CDs) that's located in the trunk?' And what about the interface for RDS text?
Has anyone ever done something like this before? Should a Symphony/small navigation system be replaced by a larger navigation system from Audi or a third-party manufacturer?
Regards,
Felix.

Hi,
I just upgraded from the Symphony system to the larger navigation system.
My suggestion: take a look at the forum.
http://navi-forum.net
More specifically, under the FAQ section:
http://navi-forum.net/viewtopic.php?t=1418
Everything is described there. The CD changer is easy to connect, but the instrument cluster is a bit more complicated... The versions of the navigation system and the instrument cluster need to be perfectly compatible for it to work. It's all on the website, though...
