Hey guys,
I once heard that with newer models in the VAG lineup, it's possible to activate the daytime running lights that are now required in Austria by changing the country code.
I recently used my VAG-COM (Beta 510-0 USB) to connect to a 2005 Alhambra, but I'm not really getting anywhere. To be honest, I only use VAG-COM to clear error codes, so I don't really know much about the individual coding functions.
Best regards,
Matthias.

Hi Matthias,
If it's possible, it should be done through the vehicle's body control module (address 09). However, I suspect that your Alhambra doesn't have the corresponding coding option available.
If so, possibly via a "long code" like with the Golf 5.

I only found things like the horn, rear lock, and similar items under category 09.
Have you ever done that with long coding before?
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
'Best regards,'

Hi,
Yes, could you please tell me the VAG part number of your vehicle's body control module?
Best regards, Rainer.

The Alhambra has a body control module, but regardless of the part number, this does not guarantee that the TFL (Traffic Flow Lighting) can be activated via diagnostics. } In short, it is not possible to activate it via diagnostics.
A lengthy coding process (similar to that required for a Golf 5) requires a control unit that a) communicates via KWP-2000 and b) actually supports this function (neither of which the SGA has). The suggestion here is somewhat pointless, especially since Audi manages to do it without lengthy coding (see A4, A6, A . The problem here is simply that the control units in the SGA do not support this function.
You can also order a "retrofit kit" for TFL from your dealer, or have it installed directly (which should cost around 40 EUR, including installation).
*edit*
TFL can be reprogrammed via diagnostics on the following models:
Audi A3 (8P), Audi A4 (8E), Audi A6 (4F), Audi A8 (4E), Audi Q7 (4L), Seat Altea (5P), Seat Leon (1P), Seat Toledo (5P), Skoda Octavia (1Z), VW Caddy (2K), VW Eos (1F), VW Golf (1K/5M), VW Passat (3C), VW Phaeton (3D), VW Touran (1T), VW Touareg (7L)

Greetings, Rainer
The Alhambra is back in the shop. But later today, I'll be giving the Altea a thorough cleaning.
Sure, no problem.

For the Altea (5P), set the corresponding bit in the long encoding as follows:
Code: | STG 09 (Bordnetz) auswählen
STG Lange Codierung -> Funktion 07
Byte 00 Bit 3 - Tagfahrlicht (Skandinavien) aktiv |

'For those who might not understand.'
The original encoding is:
00880F2700041000001E00000000000000
What needs to be changed?
Certainly, I'd be happy to help. Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
Matthias.

Hi.
Byte 00 is 00 in your system.
Bit...
0 = 1
1 = 2
2 = 4
3 = 8
You need to change the first (okay, the "zero-th") byte from 00 to 08 in your code, and leave the rest unchanged.
Download the latest VAG-COM Beta version from the customer area, as it includes a tool for modifying the long coding.
Best regards, Rainer.

I already had that, and now I've also figured it out .
If I were to tinker around with a few vehicles, that would almost be worth a technical article for Austrian users .
