hiho

Those 2 crumbs probably won't do anything to the engine. In stock car racing, some cars use Weber carburetors with open trumpets, without filters or covers. I don't want to know how much dirt those cars ingest, and despite the dirt, not many have failed. They're more likely to break down due to a hole in the oil pan or something like that. icon_lol.gif

Just blow compressed air in and it's done. Take a look at how they remove gasket remnants from the valve cover at VW workshops. They simply use a 3m abrasive pad and wipe it over the area, leaving anything that gets into the cylinder head and thus into the oil. If they don't change the oil for the next 50,000 km, that stuff will just stay in there. I was shocked when I saw that. Since then, I've always been present whenever they do any work on the engine.

A good comparison. They also last for 500,000 km icon_twisted.gif.

They also say: What's the point of having oil filters anyway???
and also:
Nowadays, so few things break down on new cars that workshops can actually help a little bit, especially since it's not usually due to a fundamental problem... icon_wink.gif

Best regards, Hannes!

Okay,

The vacuum cleaner and a plastic hose have been very helpful.

Just getting the nozzle for cylinder 1 to fit properly was a challenge; the retaining clips had to be pressed down to get it to seat correctly.

I installed the nozzles correctly, using two feeler gauges between the valve lifters and the nozzles, which was quite difficult on cylinder 3. Also, the nozzles tend to rotate again when you screw on the hoses.

What you can now hear again when you accelerate is the re-engagement of fuel injection in the low-RPM range.

The engine runs much more smoothly... a "whisper diesel" will never be a 1Z.

I'm curious to see if there's a change in fuel consumption. First, I'll run some cold start tests to see if it starts up better, and then I'll measure the injection start time.

Thank you.

UI,

This morning, the temperature was -7.5 degrees Celsius (and it has been below freezing for the past two nights).

It was probably the battery... and possibly the spark plugs, because it started slowly and didn't run smoothly for the first few seconds.

Yes, yes, I could have perfectly measured and exchanged the candles when everything was outside. But alas, time.

I will measure the candles as soon as possible - it's faster now thanks to the fixed power rail than it was with the G2 icon_smile.gif.

Driving after scraping off the ice was definitely better than with the old nozzles - it wasn't nearly as annoying.

Hmm, did any larger splashes accidentally get into the nozzles? icon_wink.gif
