hi folks!
I have a G4 ALH engine, and I have an appointment for chip tuning at tuneline.at on December 27th.
Currently, I'm considering two options for upgrading, both involving increasing the horsepower from 90 to either 115 or 127.
I'm still facing the big problem of whether the 127 horsepower version is too powerful for my small car... hmm.
It was manufactured in 2001 and has 21,000 kilometers on it.
What else can you recommend to me?
Julian from the VW forum also tuned his ALH engine to 127 hp and is satisfied. Hmm.
Thank you for your help.
ps: maybe someone knows something about how to improve the amplifier, given this significant increase in power.
shift linkage or something like that.

hi,
I assume that the 115 hp version is the one that has been approved by TÜV.
My A3 with the 90 hp AGR engine has been running with a tuning chip from TuneLine since summer, increasing the power to 116 hp. It has been properly tested and approved (TÜV), and the tuning is really perfect compared to the chip I used from AH-tuning before. It produces very little smoke and doesn't jerk at all at low RPMs.
The torque is approximately 290 Nm, which is more than sufficient for this small car. Furthermore, the engine can rev higher at higher RPMs compared to its standard output.
IMO, the 'smaller' version is sufficient...
PS:
You probably won't need a new shift linkage.
'If anything, it would probably be a stronger clutch... Also, I don't know how many Nm your gearbox can handle as standard.'
Best regards, wolf

Hi, thanks for your statement!
I would choose the switchable version.
Hmm, is there really such a noticeable difference?
I think that if the engine is chipped to around 115-116 horsepower, less can go wrong, and you can demand more full-throttle performance from the engine.
Hmm, has anyone else had any experiences with this?

hello,
You have the ALH Golf IV 1J!!
'I have the same issue; mine received a replacement battery at 38,000 km.'
To make sure everything was in order, I took my car to a performance testing facility.
Okay, the car doesn't have a valid technical inspection (TÜV), but it now has a P-engine with 95 kW and P-wheels with 85 kW!!
In addition to that, I live south of Hanover and work in Hamburg!
Okay, so every weekend, 600 km at full speed!!
(weather and traffic permitting)
210 PSI at 4600 RPM!
and it's been running with the device for 30,000 km now, and there have been no issues!
The only thing I did for him was give him better brakes!
'Its torque is around 304 Nm, and both the clutch and the transmission work perfectly!'
Don't be afraid, if you have the choice, go for the 127 horsepower version!
Hi, feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Wow, thanks for the reply!! And thanks for the kindness!! Great forum!!
Okay, so I travel by train about 5-10 times a year, and if I have a chip card, I usually only use it for trips up to 180 kilometers, but I'll use it for longer distances if necessary. This is helpful to me, thank you!
Best regards from Vienna.

Okay, so I have a 90 horsepower engine from 1997 in my A3, but I replaced it with a 125 horsepower engine from ********, and I drove it for 50,000 kilometers without any problems. My car has a total of 130,000 kilometers on it, and I plan to drive it a lot more. I think the engine can handle it, but you should definitely use a full synthetic oil.
Best regards, Sevi.

@ pauli19:
at my regular forum.

Is there a dedicated chip tuning section where you can find helpful posts, including experiences shared by participants?
best regards wolf
