Hello.
"I recently installed a navigation system (MFD) in my Golf 4. Everything works perfectly without any problems. The navigation system is an MFD version D that has been updated to version G, and it includes a TMC box (3B0 919 895A) and a DSP. Because version G lacks the three-wire bus needed to display navigation data in the instrument cluster, the TMC box is connected to the instrument cluster (1J5 920 846 C) via the comfort CAN bus of my car (Golf TDI, year 2002)."
"Everything is working perfectly, except I have a problem: since I connected the TMC box, the navigation system doesn't completely turn off and constantly draws 1.1 amps. This means my battery is almost completely drained every day. As soon as I unplug the TMC box, the navigation system turns off and only draws 0.01 amps (which I think is how it should be). I've heard that the TMC box wakes up the navigation system in the "Comfort" versions, and puts the navigation system into a kind of standby mode when, for example, the car is unlocked. However, as far as I know from other forums, the TMC box should turn off the navigation system and itself after about 8 seconds, which is not happening in my case."
I've already tried everything.
The navigation system is also coded with "0002" for the TMC (Traffic Message Channel) box.
I also re-encoded the Cangateway in the dashboard to make it search for new participants.
In navigation system channel 6, TMC (Traffic Message Channel) is also enabled and set to channel 1.
I've already replaced the TMC box, but with the same part number, and I'm still having the same problem.
I used twisted CAT6 network cable for the CAN connection.
It's probably not a wiring issue, since everything else seems to be working, including the display in the speedometer.
Maybe someone else here can help me; I'm really desperate.
Thank you very much for your tips .

Make sure to also connect the comfort control unit to the comfort CAN bus, otherwise the TMC box won't receive the locking signal!

Hello.
Yes, the Comfortcan module, which is part of the Comfort control unit, is connected to the speedometer from the factory (or to the CAN interface).
I connected everything according to this plan: (please zoom in with the Explorer tool as the resolution is quite high).

According to your plan, the KSG (likely referring to a specific system or component) is not connected, only the TMC box is connected to the speedometer.

Hello.
Okay, the speedometer acts as a gateway between the engine CAN bus and the comfort CAN bus. I can't simply connect the CAN bus from the comfort control unit to the TMC box. They are already connected because all the comfort CAN bus cables run from the interior to the speedometer, and where those cables enter the speedometer, I have soldered the two CAN bus cables from the TMC box.

Motorcan has nothing to do with Komfortcan... Think of it as a series.
KSG - Speedometer - TMC - Navigation... Currently, it's just a speedometer, TMC, and navigation system...
I had a problem with my Leon where the signals weren't reaching the speedometer because the wiring harness connecting the instrument cluster (KSG) to the speedometer was missing!

Hello.
The wiring from the car's central control unit (KFSTG) to the speedometer is present, as the car displays the door status. Additionally, the seat memory system beeps in the speedometer when a seat position is saved, indicating that the connection between the KFSTG and the speedometer exists. The speedometer is connected according to the following diagram:
32-way plug connector, blue, T32.
Terminal 15, Positive (+)
2-KL for right turn signal.
3-Output signal 1 from the electronic speedometer.

Connect the two wires to the green terminal... trial and error is the best way to learn!

Hello.
Oh man???????????
Do you have the wires from the TMC box connected to pins 8 and 9 on the green connector?
Damn, I just realized that these pins are only available on the Passat speedometer with the CAN comfort module??
but the display from the navigation system is still showing, and I'm going crazy.
Where do the two CAN cables need to be connected to the Golf 4 instrument cluster? And where is the CAN Comfort input located on this instrument cluster?
You might have just given me the solution.
Can there be anyone who can tell me where the two CAN lines need to be connected on the Golf 4 dashboard (part number 1J5 920 846 C)?

Hello.
I just checked the EL documentation. For the Golf 4, the input for the comfort control unit is specified as pins 8 and 9, which is the same as for the Passat. So, the connection where I plugged in the TMC box is correct.
Too bad, I was hoping to have found the error.
Now, the search continues.

Just connect the comfort wiring to the KSG... every CAN message is encoded for the receiver, so there won't be any complications.
We have a Passat with a KI+TMC BOX and a Passat navigation system (version G) installed. Additionally, we had to connect to the KSG (Keyless Start and Go) system, and now everything is working.

Hello.
So, did you simply run the CAN lines from the comfort control unit again, directing them towards the instrument cluster, and then connect them to the lines from the TMC box?
I can't imagine that would help, because in my case, the CAN bus lines from the comfort control unit run directly to the combination instrument, where the TMC box is connected.
The infotainment system itself is working perfectly, but the TMC box isn't turning off, and neither is the navigation system.
Yesterday, I temporarily removed the navigation system and only measured the current draw of the TMC box. And sure enough, the TMC box draws 0.25A as soon as it's plugged in. I heard that this box shouldn't even power on if it doesn't receive a message from the navigation system?
You're very welcome for the tips.
