Unfortunately, nothing happened today, and the rust on my fully galvanized, 8-year-old Audi A3 is continuing to spread.

It wasn't a brand new Audi, but a used Audi, but it still shouldn't be a rusty old Audi A3, right?

Best regards, Rainer.

The promised letter from Audi Service has unfortunately not yet arrived.

If a warranty promise is made as a selling point and is not fulfilled, one should remember that in Germany, such a thing is considered fraud.

As soon as the rust has progressed to the point where there's a hole (= rusted through), and Audi suggests that the given warranty promise was just "a nice phrase," I will not hesitate to take legal action.

It would certainly also be helpful to provide information about the course of the proceedings in order to protect other unsuspecting new car buyers from similar problems.

Best regards, Rainer.

Sometimes it malfunctions, but most of the time it's probably repaired without any problems.

Hmm, based on what I'm reading here, it seems the dealer actually has quite a bit of leeway in how they handle things, contrary to what I was told.

Perhaps I should simply hand over the sourcing of cars and spare parts for the company to another partner.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,

My A3, manufactured on December 30, 1996, with 164,000 km on the odometer, was repainted by Audi under warranty. The work included the roof, roof pillars, and doors, including the plastic trim and a newly glued-on finishing strip.

Okay, so put some pressure on and check out a3-freunde.de.

See you, David.

Hmm, I guess I'll have to take my Passat to the mechanic. It has rust on the tailgate – the zinc coating has flaked off.

Today, the promised letter arrived. It reads quite well, but: they are passing the blame to the Audi partner. So, he will review it and make the decision. icon_confused.gif

"Yes, but the Audi dealer told me the opposite?!"

Generally, I tend to believe the statements made by customer service. So, if this is yet another workshop that's trying to rip me off, even though I'm buying spare parts from them for the company at a significant cost, I know exactly where I won't be buying my next car.

I think I should contact the signatories of the letter directly next week.

Best regards, Rainer.

I almost can't believe it. I've known a managing director of a VAG company with 30 employees for years. The truth is that Audi sometimes deceives its dealers, especially when it comes to warranty and goodwill claims. They only back down and pass the blame to the workshop if the customer complains directly to Audi.

Three years ago, I had a case where I ordered a subsidized control arm kit (for the A4 front axle) for a customer, and according to the supplier's information, it was backordered.
A list was even kept of who should receive which set of control arms and when. After six weeks, only a few entries had been received, but it was not yet my turn. The customer was upset and felt like I was deceiving him. In response, I gave him the phone number of my dealer so that he could convince himself of my truth. The dealer, in turn, advised the customer to complain directly to Audi, which he did immediately. Within 24 hours, the set was ready for pickup at the dealer's counter.

It's true that Audi doesn't seem to take its dealerships 100% seriously.

What does "despite" mean here? It's because you only buy parts there, and they can't really rip you off then...

Regards,
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

That's a pretty ridiculous way to alienate customers by passing the blame onto each other.
Ultimately, I don't really care if I don't buy a new or nearly new Audi. Audi needs to be able to sell their vehicles, even if they're prone to rusting, and it's not my responsibility.

Best regards, Rainer.

"Well, who would have thought it? I just received a friendly call from the car dealership saying that the rust removal and painting have been completed, and an appointment has been made to drop off the car."

Best regards, Rainer.

hehe,

I bet 8 out of 10 customers would have been turned away. It's great that it worked out.

Hehe... nothing is won yet icon_cool.gif.

Before the car is handed over, the vehicle's condition is meticulously documented using a camera and with a witness. The vehicle is also picked up with a witness, and upon delivery, it is thoroughly inspected in detail.

So that it doesn't end up like in another workshop, where they say: "That chipped paint on the radio bezel? That must have been there before..." icon_evil.gif
Also, it's also worth noting: There was some Flexite dust on the NEW windshield, which immediately rubbed off the wiper blades, and even now (years later), there are still occasional, etched-in spots on the windshield.

"These pointless things don't have to happen. Furthermore, all the points where one could do something wrong will be sealed. A brand new charger failed due to a wave fault. Who knows if it didn't suck up something that shouldn't have been in the intake tract..."

Best regards, Rainer.
