I lost the only key for my T4, model year 2000, 2.5 TDI. What are the possible solutions to resolve this issue?

1. Order new keys for VW (key code not available) + coding??

or

Install a complete dashboard assembly from a Golf IV, including the WFS (Wiring Harness System) from Stuttgart. If possible, what should I be aware of, and is it even feasible?

I am grateful for any advice.

Best regards, Karam.

T4 should still have the WFS externally (in a box), while the Golf 4 WFS is located in the dashboard/MSG. You need the login for the WFS box and a new key with transponder. Alternatively, you can order a new key from VW (immobilizer costs about 30€ for a fixed key) and have it programmed there. icon_wink.gif This is the cheapest way. icon_wink.gif

I called VW this morning, and they said they need a new steering wheel lock (including two key blanks) for €66 plus a coding fee of approximately €25.

I think I could still manage to install the steering wheel lock.

They didn't mention anything from Immo... what now?

You only need a new steering wheel lock if you are getting a completely new key (set). If you order a replacement key using the vehicle identification number (VIN), it will also work with the existing lock icon_wink.gif. Coding = pairing with the immobilizer = anti-theft system icon_wink.gif.

Okay... according to VW, it's not possible. I've already ordered a new lock including two keys... I'm not exactly getting rich, you know!

Okay, so, can I definitely get a replacement key using the vehicle identification number (VIN)? It would only cost 24 euros... And can I program it myself? If so, how?

Thank you for the tips.

The other day, I had an Audi A6 (2004/2005), and we ordered a new key based on the documents. It fits in the door and in the ignition lock icon_lol.gif. It was adapted to the WFS system, and it even starts the car icon_wink.gif.

You can only pair it if you know the login for the WFS. Then it's not a problem with Vag-Com. icon_wink.gif

Okay, I've turned everything upside down and found a key code in the service documents for the AH model, along with 4 digits. With this code, I'm getting a replacement key made, which will cost 24€.

The next issue would be the pairing process...

'You can only connect if you know the login credentials for the WFS.'

How do I obtain the login code?

You can obtain the login from VW (through online configuration) or from someone who can read the WFS box. icon_wink.gif
