Hello,
I urgently need an answer: Can the Sharan AFN engine be installed in a Golf G3? Or is it not compatible?
I'm looking at getting one, but I need to call today because I can only pick it up tomorrow. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

As far as I recall, the mounting holes in the engine block are different! So, it won't fit!

Can someone confirm this?
Can the drillings be made yourself? I already have the brackets. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

If the drill holes are different, the part number should be different.
Then, if you drilled it yourself, you'll have a block in the golf club that wasn't originally there.
That would definitely cause you problems with the TÜV inspection.

Okay, but purely from a technical standpoint... is it possible?
How is the engine mounted in the Sharan?
Are only the brackets different? I have some more of those lying around.
I don't recall any other drilling locations being planned for the AFN block at this time. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

The difference could be the "hanging" (like in a Golf 4) versus "standing" (like in a Golf 3) mounting style.
However, the ASV engine is also available in both the Golf 4 and the Seat Ibiza (6K GP 01) models, and it uses the original Golf 3 engine mounts.
I don't know if the ASV blocks differ in this regard, or whether all the drillings are the same.

Okay, they must be the same because they're bouncing off of the same band.
It really just depends on how much he's willing to lower the price. If it's a good price, I'll pick it up tomorrow. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

No, I'm keeping mine in . Maybe I'll get another one soon, though. I'll let you know.
Now a problem has arisen: the seller made a mistake, it's an AHF!
Now the question is about the installation...
I have a cousin who has that part installed in his Passat 35i, so it's possible.
What else do I need to keep in mind?
The engine is complete, meaning all the attached components are included, but it does not include the transmission or the clutch.
Even with a climate compressor...
I was supposed to get the parts from G4. What does it look like? Does anything fit without modification? Is there anything I should be aware of? I don't want to miss anything...
Does the clutch from the 1Z engine fit the AHF engine? I have two complete ones lying around... that's why I'm asking. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

AHF has a different immobilizer system. In the worst-case scenario, you might have to replace the ignition switch, etc., because the AHF's MSTG (main system control unit) cannot communicate with the reading coil of the G3 immobilizer (a separate component).
The 1Z engine has a 228 mm clutch, while the AHF engine (which has a 210 mm clutch) uses a dual-mass flywheel.
In my opinion, things are about to get even more complicated, especially since there has never been an AHF (Acute Hemorrhagic Fever) in the G3 (presumably a location or group).

Ouch.
I think I can still figure out the WFS issue.
But what about the clutch?
Can you attach these screws using a 1Z transmission, or is it impossible?
If I can't get the gears to shift properly, then it's not worth it.
Thank you very much for the quick response!!!
What about the attachments? Which ones fit? Or is it only one that works? You don't find these things very often...
Hopefully, someone knows the solutions to the remaining problems.
You can use the engine mount from a 1Z model (the one located between the transmission and the engine).
At the back, he also installed the bracket from the 1Z model, although I don't know if the holes were already there. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

OEM.
According to this list, there was no Sharan AHF.
http://www.nkas.dk/Products/clutchkits.pdf
And the AFN engine sometimes came with a 228-size clutch, and sometimes with a 220-size clutch.
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
where the same clutch is labeled once with 220 and once with 219 mm .
Our list http://www.dieselschrauber.de/GKB.html mentions 210-series clutches for dual-mass flywheels.
I can't seem to find the list anymore that shows how I got from the AFN to a 210 clutch. It might have been a document from AKTE.

No, as I already mentioned, the AFN came from a Sharan, but the AHF came from a Golf 4.
"But it's no longer an issue, as I would probably have too much trouble with the technical inspection (TÜV)... and I'm not modifying the engine in a way that would be illegal, because it's fairly easy to tell that it's not an original G3 engine."
You could also drive the car like that, but it can also be registered without any problems.
Okay, I'll keep searching.
"Just out of curiosity, do the clutches physically fit? It doesn't really matter if they're bigger or smaller, as long as the mounting points are the same, you could theoretically swap them out..." Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!
