Hi,

I need to go to the garage soon and I found this under my car...

Do you get a medal or a slap?

Looks like a punch in the face!

I would take care of it in my own interest.

My old Corsa passed the TÜV inspection with similar-looking hoses, despite having no problems.

It doesn't look better in some places. The MOT test didn't have any issues with it. You can sometimes only see the rattling if you remove the lower engine cover.

Are there any (prescribed?) replacement intervals for the lines, and what criteria are used to determine if the lines are nearing the end of their lifespan?

Well, I would also replace them soon - mine were only in a 100th of the condition (a little bit of green rust and very light surface rust) and there was no TÜV (German vehicle inspection), which I also fully support, as it saves money on steering and braking systems!

The steering and braking systems should not be compromised!
Tell that to the people in Wolfsburg icon_wink.gif. My 15-year-old Passat had far from the vibrant landscapes that my current 35i icon_evil.gif has.

Well, I was also very surprised at the signing, regarding the vehicle - my 2er, which had been unregistered for over a year and was sitting outside, had nothing like that icon_smile.gif

YES, my two G2s also didn't have this, and they were significantly older than the G3.

I'll let the TÜV take a look at it...

thanks

I once pressed the brake pedal during a full stop while driving my (now deceased) grandmother's car.

When I looked at it afterward, it didn't look significantly worse than yours in the front area. So, icon_arrow.gif act in your own interest and switch quickly. Unexpected braking on two diagonally positioned wheels can be quite frightening icon_smile.gif

Greetings
Guste

Okay,

Plate is on icon_biggrin.gif

I will still get the lines done (installed) next month, but then without any rush and without inspection fees.

I had the "pipe" cleaned.

I've had that too. It was a beetle back then. The pipe was exactly in a rubber fitting, completely corroded and invisible from the inside.

"It used to be normal for brake lines to rust. People would then verschandeln them with wire brushes or sandpaper and then treat them with zinc dust paint or aluminum spray, or something similar."

However, if the rust has penetrated so deeply that pores are already present, there is only one way --> to renew.
