Adjustable Reverse Light Switch: Installation & Guide

Okay, so after I replaced the clutch on my Passat (1Z, cable-operated gearbox), the reversing lights stopped working. They function electrically. When shifting into reverse, you "overshoot" the activation point. The lights briefly turn on, and then they go off again when you properly engage the gear. I've already tried adjusting the linkage a bit, but without success. The gearbox functions perfectly and is well adjusted. Does anyone have any ideas or experiences with this?

There's a black plastic dome on the gearbox, about 5 German Marks in diameter (roughly equivalent to a coin), secured with two screws and featuring an electrical connection.

You may have accidentally detached or loosened it while disassembling the transmission.
