Hello,
A Skoda with an ATD engine has always run smoothly with RME, and the owner is now asking about a GAT DPF.
Are there any issues with using biodiesel, and does it significantly increase fuel consumption? Gruß, der Teileklaus

To my knowledge, biodiesel only causes problems and is prohibited when the diesel particulate filter (DPF) is actively regenerating.
According to HJS, there should be no restrictions regarding retrofit filters, as long as the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) has approved the engine for this modification.
Considering the current price difference, biodiesel is no longer really cost-effective, especially since it contains 10% less energy per liter compared to diesel.
Best regards, Jochen.

What do you want with a DPF?
You basically always need a red sticker, and every planned environmental zone that might exist in the future only requires a red sticker. As of now, there are no plans for any zones that would require a yellow or green sticker.
And yes, the fuel consumption will increase, and a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) will likely need to be replaced after more than 20 years... your Skoda should still be running for a while before that happens.

Okay, I have one from HJS (or rather, had...although ). There was no discernible difference in consumption, and in my opinion, the thing is just an oxygen catalyst with a vague approval. Even the optical analysis of the network structure revealed no significant difference compared to the original oxygen catalyst. So, if you want or need one (it makes sense if the original catalytic converter is gone, as it's cheaper then), just continue using biodiesel. In my opinion, the filter doesn't really do anything.

Aftermarket diesel particulate filters only remove about 5% of the soot from the exhaust. Or was it 10%?

Not quite... those were the percentages representing the proportion of fine particulate matter pollution caused by diesel passenger cars, versus passenger cars and trucks combined...
The retrofit filters are specified to last for approximately 40%, and are supposed to still be effective after 100,000 km (I only read this in a car magazine from December of last year).
