Hi.
I got a screw stuck in one of my Conti SportContact 2 tires on Tuesday.
The devices have been used for 12,000 kilometers (and have only been in use for half a year).
The screw was deeply embedded and located on the very edge. Therefore, a repair is not possible.
Now the question is, should I get ONE or TWO new ones?
- While SC2 is still in the program, it may be becoming increasingly scarce.
- I then got a new tire for the rear left, and a tire with 12,000 km on it for the rear right. How will that affect things if I need to move those tires to the front?
Ahhh, those beautiful tires! The 235/45 WR 17s are calling my name with a nice price.

Hi,
Was the tire only on the rear before?
He probably didn't lose much performance. Check the measurements. If you make sure to get fresh tires when replacing them, there shouldn't be any reason not to use them. The situation would be different for the front tires, depending on your driving style. Differences in rolling circumference can then cause problems with the ABS/ESP system if the tires are used prematurely. Gruß

The tire was located in the FRONT of the vehicle from kilometer 5000 to kilometer 14572.
Then all 4 were re-weighed, and the V and H were swapped. Finally, at 17950, the screw came loose.
The defect has just now worn down the mini-groove https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=15624.

A friend had his stuck VR (variable valve lift) on his Golf repaired in his workshop. Someone used a vulcanized and machined plug to fix it, and he hasn't had any problems, even though he has the "heat management" system! However, officially, no one does this kind of repair.
Okay, so either two new tires for the rear or two for the front, depending on how different the tread patterns are. Gruß, der Teileklaus

The repair is not necessary because the damage is only on the very outer surface.
The other rear tire has 5.8 mm of tread left.
I'll just have the defective tire replaced for now.

So, first of all: this is annoying.
Don't take Martin too seriously: Wouldn't it be a great way to test your tire pressure monitoring system...?

I already have.
I once let out 0.2 bar of air. Because 2.5 bar should still be enough for a 235 even in the city. But she didn't notice.
(but it was actually that tire that's now flat).
It seems you actually need the button to put them into learning mode.
