Since my Audi A3 TDI 110PS had its timing belt changed (along with the 90,000 km service), I've noticed that it's reluctant to start after being idle for a longer period (e.g., overnight). I usually need 2-3 attempts. When it does start, it produces a lot of smoke, and it smells strongly of diesel exhaust.
The problem is not dependent on the outside temperature.
However, I've noticed that it starts a little better if I repeat the pre-glow process 2-3 times (by turning the key) and then start the engine.
I hope someone can offer me some advice, because I'm completely at a loss.
Yeah, the injection start time isn't right.
I'm currently experiencing the same issue with the AAT.
Whether the pump is misaligned, they should at least be able to tell you that for free...
It costs 75 euros at AAT to have it done, but I'm still getting it done because I don't want to mess with the timing belt.
