Document A3, Differential Failure After Mileage (Solution)

Differential failure, even with gearbox housing damage as a consequential damage. Damage can only occur with high mileage (> 30000 km).

Cause
1. Insufficient fixation of the balancing gear axle.
2. Drilled hole for the balancing gear axle is not dimensionally accurate.
3. Offset cone wheels broken or eaten away.
4. Non-interference gear ring balancing housing disabled (only for 02K gearboxes).

All of these failure causes can result in a crack in the gearbox housing.

"If repairing the transmission is still worthwhile on vehicles outside the warranty, please also add to your complaint report which element of the differential, in your opinion, was the cause of the failure. "We should avoid generous concessions."
