Hello friends,
"The Climatronic system in our T4 van (manufactured in 1998, chassis number W-099624) is no longer working. The error code 00796 035 has been detected (blower motor for temperature sensor V42, occurring intermittently)."
According to the workshop, the sensor in this blower unit (interior sensor) is usually defective. The replacement part used to cost around 60 EUR, but it is no longer available. Instead, they now want you to buy a new control panel for 460 EUR!
Starting from frame number W-109000 (approximately 10,000 vehicles later), the spare part is still available. Does anyone know if the newer blower can be used, or if it can be modified to fit? Or has anyone ever repaired such a unit, for example, by soldering in a new temperature sensor? (I think that's a cheap electronic component).
I would really appreciate it if we could avoid the more expensive option.
Currently, the Climatronic system can only provide heating, which isn't very useful given the current temperatures. Is there perhaps a trick to quickly re-enable the cooling function (without any settings) on it?
Best regards,
Rupert.

Hi.
What happens to the system if you set the temperature to "LO"?

Hello Ruedi,
When set to "Lo," the device cools intermittently, but then it cools fully, and only very rarely. For a short time, it sometimes seems to be working correctly, but in about 95% of cases, it can only heat, regardless of the settings.
Greetings.
Rupert.

Hello everyone,
Thank you for your help.
I temporarily disassembled the blower, took it apart, and reassembled it. Besides some dust, I didn't see anything unusual. Currently, the system is working perfectly again. It's possible that by disassembling it, I unknowingly eliminated a faulty connection or some other issue. I'll keep an eye on it. If I encounter any problems again, I'll let you know.
@ bastion : The outside temperature was always displayed correctly.
Greetings.
Rupert.
