A friend of mine owns a 2001 T4 van that came from the factory with a built-in auxiliary heater.

This air conditioning system only heats the interior via the front blower fan.

Is there a way to make the rear blower run?

Does the bus have a Climatronic system or a manual heating control?

Yes, it has Climatronic. They also installed a second battery so that the heating can run overnight.

Hello,

The front climate control system is powered by 12V from the auxiliary heater via pin 1. If you extend this wire to the rear climate control panel and connect it to pin 1 there, the panel will power on and control the actuators accordingly.
Everything runs automatically with just a fan; you don't need to do anything else.
Is there a second fan motor for the rear as well? Does it need to be controlled via a relay, like the front one, in order to receive power from the auxiliary heater at 12V when the ignition is off?

That's what I think, at least... ?
Are there any dissenting opinions?

Sven.

Yes, it has a second fan on the back.

Does the rear control panel need to be powered?

I would be fine if only the second fan is running.

Best regards,

It probably won't be very useful if only the fan is running; the air needs to escape somewhere. Therefore, you will also need to power the control unit, as it regulates the ventilation flaps.

The rear ventilation system in the T4 doesn't seem to have any flaps.

I couldn't find any servo motors either. Since the electric windshield wiper is working, it should be enough to just power the fan.

Hello, if there are no dampers available, it should still work by simply activating the fan.

Greetings, Sven.

That's exactly what I'm concerned about. I wanted to know the best way to solve it. Ideally, someone has already done this and can give me some tips.

There's really everything available online regarding the T4... just take a look here; maybe you'll find something useful.

because you have or will have much more serious problems with the T5, there's no time for tinkering. icon_twisted.gif
