"Does anyone have any experience with doors that rattle on a T5 Transporter? The passenger door has about 5 mm of play in the lock; it's not the latch. Closing it gently or slamming it doesn't make a difference. It doesn't matter whether the door is locked with the key or the central locking system."

Zudem klappert die Schiebetuer (nur rechts vorhanden) und wird im ganz offenen Zustand auch nicht mehr festgehalten.

Does anyone know of any possible causes for the problem? The T5 is from 2004, so it's out of warranty.

Can you determine if the radii of the bolt thrower (BFtuer) in the locking wedge and the lock are the same?

Is the plastic coating on the lock damaged, and is that why the lug on the locking wedge is too thin to hold it securely?

I can't think of anything specific related to sliding doors right now.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

The sliding door has a locking mechanism on the lower left side with a latch, which is likely either bent from being slammed against the stop or is simply defective.
I'll probably need to find someone to help me with some technical issues soon, so you'll likely finish that task faster.

So: It appears that the front passenger door lacks a plastic cover. Consequently, the door latch has excessive play. Unfortunately, this, along with the completely deformed locking mechanism of the rear sliding door, is likely due to rough handling.

I asked because a good friend wants to buy the van used. Unfortunately, the vehicle looks quite rusty, but the relatively low mileage (first registration: 2004, documented 58,000 km) makes it potentially interesting.

Just out of curiosity: How does a 2004 1.9 TDI (105 hp) engine get a green environmental sticker without a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)? Was the sticker issued correctly?

The van has the minimum equipment: air conditioning, central locking, ESP/ASR, heated electric mirrors, and fog lights. However, it doesn't have electric windows. That might be a good thing, as those tend to break down a lot. I don't really care about the market situation; the T5 buyer will already know what they want to buy.

What technical aspects should one pay attention to when dealing with this generation of vans?

Euro4 = green, DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) not required.

I know! My 206 would have also had a green sticker without the retrofitted DPF. However, mine is the subject of research and therefore has a smoking ban.

The question about the legality of the green sticker arose because he was also looking at and test-driving a T5 from 2004 that only had a yellow sticker. Apparently, even the 105 hp TDI model had one.

The process for registration also varies depending on whether it's being registered as a passenger car or a truck.

Just a quick update: My friend bought the device. The yellow Berlin environmental sticker was issued in the green version in my district's registration office without him having to do anything further. The registration is as a "multi-purpose vehicle for passenger transport."

Prior to this, he had the vehicle inspected by DEKRA according to the aaSoP standard, with the seller's consent. He also believed the yellow Berlin emissions sticker was incorrect. Based on his research, the 1.9 TDI engine does indeed have a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), but it was not (!) registered during the initial registration. He advised against mentioning this to the seller and recommended purchasing the vehicle. Ultimately, the vehicle's registration data is incorrect, and the Berlin registration office seems to have made every possible mistake. Perhaps the yellow sticker was the reason the seller was offering the vehicle for sale, as he would no longer be allowed to drive it in the Berlin zone starting next year. It's unbelievable for such a relatively new vehicle.

For the negotiated price (which I cannot disclose), I got a T5 estate with a tinted sliding door and a window on the opposite side, but the rear is completely metal. It has features like air conditioning, ESP/ASR, fog lights, and a remote central locking system, but no power windows. The color is white. Aside from some minor dents, the metal bodywork is in good condition, and even the bumpers show no signs of damage.

Inside, however, things aren't quite as good. The rear headliner is peeling on the sides. Both side panels near the sliding door and the opposite side show signs of leaky sliding windows, a common problem. Otherwise, everything is reasonably intact. The 105 horsepower is sufficient, but not particularly powerful.

The door problem had been fixed previously.
