WHAT CAN OR SHOULD I DO? PLEASE HELP!!!

WHAT CAN OR SHOULD I DO? PLEASE HELP!!!

Okay, let's start from the very beginning.

In 1999, I bought a used Golf IV TDI Highline with 81 kW from a factory employee.

Unfortunately, this thing has been acting up for a few months now.

1. The error is that when I open the front passenger door and want to put my little daughter in her car seat in the back, I first have to put the key in the ignition because otherwise, after about 20 seconds, the alarm system will activate, and many people have looked at me because of the noise the car makes icon_wink.gif.

I already explained this to my acquaintance (who's a mechanic), and he thought it might be a problem with the door lock, but he suggested having the error codes read first.

"My warning signal for the lights hasn't been working for a while now. It's put me in a situation a few times where the battery was dead because I accidentally left the lights on. (My neighbors even come and knock on my door, saying, 'You've left the lights on again!' ;_).) "

Today, I polished the car again, taking advantage of the nice weather (a friend always lets me do this work in his garage).
"I noticed that when I open the doors, the lights in the doors (the cat's eyes in the driver and passenger doors) no longer illuminate."

So, I went to the friendly mechanic's shop and wanted to finally have the error codes read (for a 10-euro contribution to the friendly mechanic's coffee fund). While there, I noticed that the door light on the passenger side was suddenly working again.

The technician wanted to know which error memory he should read. (I shrugged my shoulders... I just explained my problems to him, and he then said it probably involved the memory of the comfort control system).

The cable from the diagnostic tool was connected... However, even after several attempts (turning the ignition on and off repeatedly), a connection could not be established, and therefore no error codes could be read. It did manage to connect to the engine control unit, but that's not where the problem lies.

TOLLE SAUSAGE!!!

According to him, the cost, including installation, was around 400 to 500 euros (plus the door locks, which may have already been replaced). UGH, that's expensive!

As I drove up to the entrance of the car dealership to put some money in the parking meter (the aforementioned 10 euros), the light on the passenger side wasn't on again when I opened the door to check.

Here's one last piece of information in case you have any questions about external radio devices.

A third-party radio from JVC (Cameleon) is installed. For the past 7.5 years, it has been possible to read the error memory, at least the one from the engine control unit, during inspections. Is the "Comfort" control unit something different? As I said, the dealer was able to access the engine control unit today, but not the "Comfort" control unit.

Greetings from an unknown wise person to all the wise individuals here in the forum.

In my opinion, it's a very simple issue: microswitches in the lock mechanism. Anyone who isn't afraid of using a screwdriver can fix this for a small amount of money (switches from Conrad/Reichelt might cost around 2 euros).
Using VAG COM to read the data, a defect is detected in the measurement blocks. Based on your description, the microswitch in the driver's door, which registers the door opening, is definitely defective. I've experienced this before.

for example, these.
