Hello,

I'm having a problem with an Audi A6, type B4, with a 2.5-liter diesel engine...
We were driving on the highway with an empty trailer and wanted to overtake a truck...
While accelerating, the engine suddenly stopped increasing in RPM, didn't take any fuel (diesel), and then simply stalled and wouldn't restart.

We have now read the error codes from the system.
First, the error message related to the engine mount (1375) appears there.
Here are three questions about it:
Can these things be measured?
Does the engine stop starting if a motor mount is broken? (I can't believe that...)
Can I simply unplug the cables to trick the electronics?

Then there was also something about a diesel pump, code 1318.
Then again, 1318 with a communication failure...
00628
and something else about the diesel pump...
We then cleared the error memory.
The only parts that were returned were the engine mount and the mass airflow sensor.
Are there going to be any more errors?

The car, of course, doesn't start... Otherwise, there wouldn't be a post about icon_wink.gif.
I just disconnected a diesel line from an injector and tried to start the engine. Diesel is coming out, and I don't think it's a small amount... However, I don't know if the pressure is high enough to push the fuel through the injector... (I have no experience with diesel engines...)

We would be very grateful for any help you can provide!

The current error report (excluding items with zero errors):

I think your VAG-Com version will no longer be supported here.

If there's actually something in the control unit that refers to the diesel pump, I would strongly suspect that the diesel pump itself is also faulty. There's plenty of reading material available on this topic here. Also about the engine mount. But that's probably your least concern right now...

Normally, engine mounts are not monitored. Once, I brought an Allroad in for an oil change, and by chance, I noticed that a badger had chewed through both cables. There was nothing in the error memory, and it drove completely normally. Even after repairing the cables, there was no noticeable difference.

I suspect it's the ESP pump. There's probably a typical contact error at the connector, which you won't be able to fix...
Even with a damaged engine mount, the engine will still run without any problems.

A thousand thanks to everyone who wrote to me...
Another pump is on its way... I'll report further details later, but probably not until tomorrow evening, as the pump is expected to arrive around 11:00 PM.
I'll install them tomorrow morning then.

The VAG-COM version is the only one I have... officially, I haven't installed any further updates because I actually switched to BMW (is it okay to mention that here?).

Wenn ich fragen darf, wo hast du die Pumpe bestellt? At what cost?
Exchange or new part?
BMW, good cars... icon_smile.gif

Hi,

1. The pump is here and installed... (Unfortunately, we had to use a little brake cleaner to help it start the first time icon_wink.gif).

2. The pump came from a friend who is a mechanic; it was installed in a car with engine damage (the problem wasn't related to the oil... there was none in it).
We've now installed the pump... That way, we can be sure it's actually the pump that's causing the problem!
Now the "old" pump can be refurbished and then reinstalled.

Thank you for your help!

For posterity:
We're still having the issue with the engine mount, but the engine is running. Since the mount looks fine, we won't replace it yet.

For me, Audi currently builds the highest quality cars in the mass market segment, but I prefer rear-wheel drive.

Brake cleaner = sorry, a makeshift solution...

New problems...
"No power output from approximately 3500 RPM."
Does anyone have any ideas?
The VAG Com shows a value of 55 in field 2 under section 000 when the engine is idling, and that's supposed to be the "good" reading.
And under point 9, we have a value of 140 at idle, which should also be acceptable...

Why is this so complex?

Thank you!!

Brake cleaner is also not a good solution for emergencies. Especially with sensitive pumps, it's important to work cleanly and thoroughly, and to bleed the system completely. A properly adjusted diesel engine that is free of air will start immediately...
