As the title says: I have a climate control panel for an Audi A4, year 1997, available - it's defective (readable and functional, but with unsightly display errors).
According to the label, part number is 8D0820043H.
Unfortunately, I can't find the exact same type used, but something similar, for example.
8D0820043F
or even visually identical parts like 8L0820043D, which are actually intended for the Audi A3 8L (pre-facelift).
Does anyone know the exact differences or other uses?
Thank you, Michael; it's not necessary. But thank you anyway.
"I happen to have the part number -8D0820043F- on hand, and it's cheap. I'll take a look, and if it doesn't work, I might just replace the display itself; it's connected with a flat ribbon cable."
If you have a bit of talent when it comes to electronics, you can often repair the display yourself and at a low cost.
The displays are connected via so-called conductive rubbers. Over time, these rubbers lose their plasticizers and no longer conduct electricity properly.
Often, you can tell by the fact that the pixel defects change with temperature and are not static.
You can purchase replacement rubber guides from most major electronics retailers.
Replacing it is a bit fiddly, but doable.
