Hello,
'I went to the auto parts store today and wanted to buy the specific transmission oil for my Golf IV PD 115PS, manufactured in 01/2001, which is often replaced in cases of customer complaints about shifting problems, especially when the car is cold.'
I found the part number G052171A2 online for this. However, according to a friend, this oil is the standard fill for the 6-speed transmission in gasoline engines (like the TT, etc.). He mentioned that for shifting problems in 6-speed TDI transmissions, part number G052776A2 is the correct one. I just saw on Michael's GolfIV page again that it's G052171A2.
Right now, I'm a bit confused about who to believe (although my 'friendly' person has let me down a few times).
Sure, no problem. Here's the translation:
'Thank you in advance.'

I'm just as confused right now!
Has anyone ever had to switch to a different oil due to the difficulty in shifting gears? And if so, what kind of oil was it?
Edit: I only found this one now, and it would be the third transmission oil I've tried, and I'm completely lost now...

Hello,
After extensive research regarding the gearbox number/code, it was already filled with G052171A2 from the factory. Of course, the information from the dealer was incorrect, as G052776A2 is not intended for the 6-speed transmission.
I finally bought the G052171A2 again and combined it with the SX6000 from QMI, and now everything is working smoothly again. Specifically, the problem of 'difficulty shifting from 1st to 2nd gear when the transmission is cold' is no longer present.

Hmm, I was just at the car accessories store.
Liqui Moly fully synthetic 75W90 oil costs a maximum of 10 euros per liter.
I guess I'll have to go with that, and VW can rip me off (again).
If it still feels a bit rough or difficult to operate, I can always add some SX 6000 to it.
The filling volume should be 2.3 liters, correct?
Thank you very much!
Daniel.

Hello everyone,
The gearbox oil number listed on MichaelNeuhaus' website is from me. This oil was used in my 1999 Panne-Düse AJM. Since then, I've been able to shift gears without any problems, even at -16°C. I don't know if there's anything better available now! In any case, it's been working perfectly for over 100,000 km, even with an Oettinger chip!
Best regards,
Frank.

The number on Michael Neuhaus's page is correct; for example, it wasn't entered into the DRW transmission database until, I believe, October 2000 (it might have been December), and it was also only then changed in the AKTE/Elsa system to be listed as the original entry . That's the trick.
Best regards,
Hugo

Hello,
after I read this description
http://www.polo6rfreunde.de/index.php/Thread/5179-Diskussionsthread-Dies-und-das-Polo-R-WRC/?postID=376779#post376779
While I can sometimes recognize the issue even in a Polo, I also want to check the transmission oil and potentially change it as a preventative measure.
The transmission is a 0A8 (PNU).
"In the parts catalog, I found 2 different oil specifications:"
G052 171 A2 and G052 527 A2 classified as "high-performance oil".
Does anyone know the differences between the oils?
Given the requirement of 2.5 liters and list prices of €31 or €47 per liter , I would also be interested in alternatives from the accessories market, although it doesn't necessarily have to be from a "gold-plating-my-name" supplier http://www.castrol.com/de_de/germany/products/cars/manual-transmission-fluids/syntrans-v-fe-75w-80.html.
According to a recent inquiry, Liqui Moly currently has nothing compatible in its product range .
Thank you for all the helpful tips . Gruß Ulf

Hello Ulf,
I recently changed the gearbox oil in my ERF gearbox. I didn't want to put the expensive stuff from the dealer in there, so I tried Castrol Syntrans Transaxle 75W-90, which is significantly cheaper and has been highly praised.
I changed the oil because the old oil had 250,000 km on it, and I was hearing noises when shifting up while accelerating. Unfortunately, nothing has changed except that the transmission now shifts a bit more clunkily in the first two gears than before. I can't say whether original oil would be better. I'll continue using the Castrol for now, maybe something will change.

I used Fuchs Titan Sintofluid 75W. The engine noise at idle might be slightly quieter, or the relative quietness when disengaging the clutch doesn't seem as noticeable as with the factory oil.
The factory oil was also a very dark brown color, but despite a careful search, I haven't found any noticeable wear or fine shavings in it.
Are there any transmission oils that meet the VAG specification that are already cloudy-brown when brand new? If not, what causes used transmission oil to become dark brown after only a few thousand kilometers? Is it wear of the synchronizers?
The new Fuchs oil is, as one might expect from most oils, a clear, golden-yellow color. Gruß Ulf
