The speedometer works, but the odometer doesn't.

Therefore, the consumption is theoretically infinite. icon_smile.gif

Now, first, the front shock absorbers need to be replaced, according to the TÜV icon_eek.gif.. until October 2nd.

.

Max. Speedometer reading: 105 km/h. Trip from the Palatinate region to Cologne and back: 9.79 liters per 100 kilometers.

Not really low, but less than 16 liters per 100 kilometers.
(With the Passat (at 105 km/h), it would have only cost half as much... *swallows*).

Well, I was 19 years old at the time, and I was a terrible driver icon_lol.gif. Even driving slowly, I was using over 13.5 liters per 100 km, compared to my first car. FZ is a Fiat Panda, year 1979, with a laughable 34 horsepower. The constant top speed, depending on the wind and gearing, is 100-160 km/h, but never more than 7L icon_cool.gif.
After that, my Mercedes 1977 W123 250 carburetor gasoline engine with automatic transmission, also not for less than 13 liters icon_rolleyes.gif.

Does the odometer need to be working for the TÜV (German technical inspection)? Isn't it enough that the speedometer displays the km/h? How is that controlled?

Hi,

The presence of an odometer is mandatory. However, I don't think anyone checks whether it's actually working, as long as there are numbers displayed. It will only be noticeable if the last report shows exactly the same mileage as is currently displayed.

Best regards,

Jan.

I see it the same way! If it's the exact same examiner, then he/she might notice. It's not that bad.

Most often, in a T3 speedometer, the gear shaft has slipped out of its housing, or the plastic gear has detached from the metal. It's usually quite easy to repair. The same applies to many other mechanical tachometers.
