Evening.
I would like to remove the rust from the rear axle of my VW Tiguan 4Motion.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to do this in a semi-professional way? I've read a lot online, but I'm still confused.
Can you recommend any good products (perhaps with processing instructions)?

Hello!
What is the current situation, and what is the goal?
I've always just roughly cleaned them and properly preserved them for my cars so far.
And then, every 1-2 years, make some adjustments as needed. Grüße, Steffen!

Unlike everything else, the HA looks wild (4motion problem?).
My goal is to slow down the rust corrosion with minimal effort. Since everything is already quite rusty, a simple preservation treatment alone won't be enough.
I don't want to take everything apart and meticulously paint each piece.
I'm looking for a "healthy" compromise. Making small improvements each year isn't a problem, as long as I don't have to scrape everything off and reapply it all again.
Best regards,

Hi,
My recommendation is Liqui Moly rope grease.
Available as a liquid for brushing or as a spray.

The problem with this axle design is that it rusts from the top, and you can't fix it without removing it.
"I'm experiencing the same problem with my A4 Quattro. I bought a complete rear axle in usable condition for 70 euros (including brake calipers, driveshaft, and axles). I'm going to overhaul it, addressing any rust issues, applying a protective coating, and completely reconditioning it. Then, I'll replace it if necessary." Not even with a spray nozzle?
Back to the topic:
For the spindle, I recommend "KLine Permanent Wax". Viele Grüße

I highly doubt that this will remove rust, and what's the point of preserving rust? Either you do it properly, or you don't do it at all. And to do it properly, you need to remove the axle. | Sommer: A4 B5 Avant 2,5 TDI Quattro Facelift (AKN silber)

Remove loose rust mechanically, degrease, and apply Nigrin Rust-Stop permanently! This product can also be sprayed on. It takes time to develop its effect - better a day longer than rushing and applying it for too short a time. After the chemical reaction is complete, it forms a black to black-purple shimmering layer that already provides a non-sandable base coat on which a classic paint application could begin. If that's not possible or doesn't make sense, you could at least now apply a preservative grease and fight the rust. However, don't forget that surfaces preserved with grease are exposed to environmental influences such as water, sandblasting, etc., and require occasional attention. The grease film should definitely be maintained completely in those areas. Automobile Zeitzeugen: |SUZUKI Swift Sport (2008)| |Smart 450 (2002)| |Honda CB 125 F (2018)|

I have to disagree with you. Of course, it's better to remove the rust from the scales with a brush. However, it can also be done with Owatrol. Treat the affected areas more frequently until the rust is completely saturated. Then, for example, apply a sealant like K-Line. Believe me, this treatment will lead to a good result without having to remove the axle. Viele Grüße
Andreas
