97 Polo MKB AEE, Diagnostic error reading

Hello Forum, hello Rainer,
I have the VCDS / OBD2 diagnostic professional system KKL+CAN and would like to read error codes for my son (see title). The software indicates that the gateway is not supported.
Is it completely and utterly impossible to succeed with my system, or is it just a matter of a small detail?

PS: Ich habe auch noch einen solchen Diagnoseadapter / Diagnose-Interface KKL (RS232) irgendwo rumliegen, ich müsste nur noch einen Laptop mit RS 232 wieder zum Laufen bringen. Could it possibly work?

Hello Jörg,

The 1997 Polo does not have a gateway control unit.

So, beim Scannen des Autos, entweder das Modell aus der Fahrzeugliste auswählen, bevor man mit dem Scannen beginnt.

If you already know which control unit you want, in the VCDS main menu, click on "Control Unit Selection" on the left-hand side, and then on the corresponding control unit.

It's actually quite simple

. At least, I found the Polo in the menu. Tomorrow, in the morning, I'll try it out.
