Hello everyone.
I drive a T5.2 2.0 BiTDi manufactured in 2011 (type 7HM) with 190,000 km on the odometer.
I repeatedly read that after replacing the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), the values in the engine control unit (ECU) should be reset.
Is that even necessary? If so, can someone help me figure out how to do it?
VCDS Version 20.1 -- unfortunately, I cannot select channel 12.
The particulate filter initialization shows a value of 0 km.
When I try to change the 0 km value to 100,000 km by entering the access permission, it displays "missing access permission" even though I previously had the necessary permissions.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards, René.

Hello Rene,
Please perform a full scan and take a Screenshot of the relevant screen within VCDS. The procedure and values to be entered may vary depending on the engine control unit.
It's highly likely that your engine control unit doesn't have adjustment channel 12, but rather a dropdown menu.
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.
What login credentials did you enter and for which function?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi there,
The reset is necessary; otherwise, the MSG will retain its old (high) ash content.
The "0 km" value is always displayed. You enter the new kilometer value, and when you save the new value, the corresponding ash mass is entered. Then, the "0 km" value reappears.
Regarding access authorization, did the MSG accept the combination you used?
And – curiosity – why would you want to change it to 100,000 km?
hg
Herbert.

Hello Rainer, Hello Herbert.
Thank you for the quick response.
Attached are the pictures.
For my logic, the 100,000 kilometers were just a number representing the difference in value between something old and something new.
It's probably wrong, but I don't know what else I could do.
Best regards, René.

Information is missing.
- Engine code ( Autoscan)?
- New, refurbished, or used particulate filter?
- Screenshot showing the pop-up for permission access.
- Zugriffsberechtigung für Anpassung im VCDS akzeptiert? Which one?
- Is a new value entered (is the "Apply" button still active or grayed out)?
You're only giving us bits and pieces of information.
hg
Herbert.

Hello.
Please excuse the brief explanations; I hope everything is included below.
I replaced the DPF with a new Walker DPF.
Reason: increased idle speed, occasional blue exhaust fumes, increased diesel injection.
Valve stem seals have also been replaced.
The old one was definitely blocked, and the monolith has a crack on its output side.
According to the service booklet, MKB is CFCA.
Aktuelle Codierung: 0–03L 906 022 JF—R4 2,0L EDC H35 8751. Also SW 8751.
My VCDS is from Kaufmann.
After entering the five-digit access code in VCDS under "MSG," a pop-up window appears indicating that the PIN is correct. This PIN is displayed as a small hint window.
Then, in the VCDS software, I go to "Adaptation" (there is no other option available) within the MSG module.
Select the "IDE Initialization" option for the particulate filter, as the initial mileage is set there.
My assumption is that I might need to adjust the mileage.
When I enter the value and click "Apply" or "Save", a pop-up window appears with the message "Missing access permissions".
The value then returns to zero.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards, René.

Quote: | | MKB ist lt Serviceheft CFCA. |
The CFCA engine is notorious for its failures caused by defective EGR systems. As a result of the resulting engine problems and the associated high oil consumption, the diesel particulate filters (DPFs) are also permanently damaged.
Depending on the diagnosis and the actual problem, it is quite possible that simply replacing the valve stem seals alone would not be a sufficient repair. I only mention this as a precaution, so that your new DPF doesn't get damaged again.
A new DPF must be initialized to 0 km. This resets the ash mass to zero. When 0 km is entered, the control unit expects fresh (age-appropriate) differential pressure values.
If these market pressures persist, disruptions are likely to occur in the medium to long term.
Therefore, in some cases, it may be necessary to adjust the value upwards for refurbished DPFs or accessory parts because the pressure conditions may differ from those of the original part.

Which login did you use? It might be incorrect.
Furthermore, there must not be any active errors that could potentially prevent or disrupt the process.
Does the engine currently have a measurable oil consumption rate? If so, how much is it per 1000 km?
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
"Addendum:"
Please check the measurement data to see what oil ash volume is currently specified.
Otherwise, the questions from @ Herbert need to be answered!

I have now changed the value under setting number 17 in the VCDS software from 102,600 km to 282,600 km.
Resetting to the original value (102600) is no longer possible.
Could that be the solution if the value is set significantly higher than the current mileage?
Currently, measurements indicate a ruthenium content of 4.3 grams.

Hello,
warum in aller Welt hast Du den Wert erhöht wenn Du einen neuen DPF eingebaut hast?
And why in the distribution board enclosure?
The new DPF has zero kilometers on it.
Quote: | | Aktuell, aus Messwerten sind 4,3g Russeintrag hinterlegt. |
Completely irrelevant. This is about the oil ash mass or the oil ash volume.
Best regards, Rainer.

How is it configured in the control unit?

The approach to solving this is that you should first carefully describe (in individual steps) what you have done, and secondly, refrain from making any further changes.
You are in the process of modifying your car.
What exactly did you do in the AI control unit?
Herbert.
