Hello professional thief,
I recently came across an offer for the following suspension parts for an Audi S3:
Front coil springs: 8L0 411 105 H.
Front shock absorber: 1J0 413 031 CP
Rear coil springs: 1J0 511 115 CA
Rear shock absorber: 1J0 513 015 BM
The parts are from an A3 manufactured in 2001, while mine is from 1997. Can I install these parts in my car, or are there any potential issues?
Currently, I have the standard suspension. It has already reached 135,000 km and has become a bit too soft for me. Therefore, I was thinking of perhaps treating myself to an original Audi sport suspension. The advantage is that the car doesn't sit much lower (although it's hard to say exactly), which would be beneficial for my driving distances!
Regards,
Alex. AUDI A3 1.9 TDI, EZ 12/96, ursprüglich MKB AGR, umgebaut zum AHF mit GT1749V-Lader, verkauft mit 250tkm
Golf 4 1.9 TDI, EZ 1/98, MKB ALH, jetzt auch mit GT1749V-Lader, verkauft mit 300tkm
Touran 1.9 TDI, EZ 09/2004

If they're from an S3, you can forget about it, because the S3 has a different mounting point at the rear due to the quattro system. It's an independent suspension, and you have a linked arm suspension.
You'll have to settle for the standard sports version, but I want to get it at a good price from every retailer.
'But many different suspension systems can fit. Recently, someone installed a Beetle SP suspension into a Golf 4, and it fit perfectly!'

It's not entirely clear whether this is a genuine S3 suspension (quattro) or an original A3 sport suspension. It's not just the springs and dampers, but even the complete front struts.
Who knows more? What about the model year? Were there any structural changes in the suspension area between model year 1997 and 2001 that would prevent the installation of the struts?
Thank you for your helpful and expert assistance.

What else comes to mind... go to your dealer with the ET numbers; they will know what kind of suspension it is.
But you probably already knew that, right?

Hello Rainer,
Thank you for your research.
Quote: | A3 Mj97:

Front coil springs: 8L0 411 105 H
Not listed on Mj97. On Mj2001, it has a coil spring front suspension & a Quattro sport suspension. |
If a specific feather is not listed for use with the MJ97, does that mean it is incompatible, cannot be used (due to operating permits), or are there other reasons why it shouldn't be used?
Or should it still be possible to use the feather?

Hello fellow enthusiasts,
It's a real tragedy!
I contacted a VAG dealer today to find out if the suspension parts would be compatible with my A3.
Unfortunately, the "helpful" person couldn't provide any further assistance. The information they had was exactly the same as what Rainer had already researched for me (thank you again, Rainer!).
There was no answer to the question of whether the spring, which is not listed in the MJ1997 documentation, can be installed or not.
An inquiry (also by phone) to the Audi service hotline yielded even less information.
Well, what are we going to do?" said Zeus.
The good parts won't wait for me forever. Should I take a full risk and, if necessary, buy replacement springs for the front axle?
The idea is really stupid when the car is disassembled and you realize that the front shock absorbers don't actually fit!

Hello everyone!
Well, things are getting interesting now. I managed to get the parts at a really cheap price.
Let's see if everything fits!
I think 80 EUR for a complete new suspension kit is really okay, right? Especially since my shocks have noticeably deteriorated (almost 140,000 km).
