Hello everyone,

My Audi needs new shock absorbers (and also new control arms on the front). The car recently reached 160,000 kilometers (approximately 99,000 miles).

I suddenly thought that we could get a completely new suspension system (i.e., shocks and springs). Now, they come in nice combinations like 40/40, 60/40, or 60/60.

Can anyone offer recommendations or share their experiences? Does a 60/40 setup look good, or would it be better to have the same ride height at the front and rear? Wasn't there something you had to consider regarding vehicles with air conditioning?

Can anyone recommend a good manufacturer? It doesn't necessarily have to be a KW coilover suspension system, as the financial investment should remain within reasonable limits.

In the summer, I usually wear size 225 sandals – do you think there might be any issues with a 60mm height?

Thank you all!

Before I post the question again in the forum (I still don't have a new suspension system)...

Can anyone recommend a good combination of shock absorbers and springs?

The control arms definitely need to be replaced, and it might be a good idea to replace some other parts at the same time (stabilizer bars, bearings, etc.)!

hiho

I can only speak from my experience with a few Polos and a 6K AHU Ibiza, but the best parts I've installed so far are Bilstein dampers and H&R or Eibach springs. Or even better, a complete Bilstein suspension kit, although that wasn't always available.
'So, the 40/40 models are absolutely suitable for everyday use; my sister drives one every day for about 100 kilometers, and she's never had any complaints.'

I'm curious to see how their coilover suspension system is.

Okay, here's the translation:

'Edit: I always replace all the rubber bushings that are related to this.'

Since the control arms are being replaced anyway, they will already come with new rubber bushings.
