Hi everyone!
Okay, so I'm having the following problem:
I recreated the VAG-Com interface based on Mark Neugebauer's design and already tested it with the TestOK software (everything worked perfectly, except for the loop test, but all my data signals were transmitted). Now, I finally want to connect the software to my A4, but my VAG-Com keeps displaying...
'Adapter Status 3 - Interface not found or not ready.'
I have version 303 of VAG-COM. Do I need any other signal that sends a confirmation back to my PC, or could a slight time delay between the signals be causing the problem? 'With the TestOK software, I can normally output signals, and when I run the LED test with VAG-Com, my LEDs also light up.'
Perhaps someone here is familiar with this problem. I would appreciate it if you could help me.
Best regards,
Patrick.

Hi,
If the loop test doesn't produce a black bar, there's a blockage somewhere in the signal path between the PC, the adapter output, and back to the PC.
Based on your description, there's not much more we can say at this point. Good luck with your search... Gruß Ulf

From whom did you get VAG COM?
My adapter works perfectly with all versions... EXCEPT for content from AutoIntern!!
So, take a different one.

Hi Martin,
If the adapter loop test is already failing (which doesn't require VAGCOM), then there's likely a hardware issue.
Then it cannot run, VAGCOM (no matter where it comes from), before this bug is fixed... Gruß Ulf

I agree with Ulf!
'But I also don't know how our shop owner feels about this, especially since we're providing support for adapters that we don't actually sell here! He doesn't offer them in the shop just for fun or out of the goodness of his heart!'

Hello, the support for the adapters on the diagnostics page is already working fine.
Best regards, Rainer.

Okay, then I'll try to run the loop test again.
Just to confirm: during the loop test, do I need to connect the L line and the K line together? The L line is used to transmit the signal, and the K line is used to receive it. Is that correct?
Could it be that the loop test fails because of excessively large signal delays?

Here's a quick update on the latest developments:
Okay, I've now connected the L and K lines and performed the loop test. I'm getting a perfect signal up to my RS232 connector, which connects to the PC. Could it be that my USB-to-RS232 converter doesn't allow bidirectional data transfer, and that's why the data can't be received?
Okay, I'll run a test using a desktop computer with an RS232 hardware interface while I wait for your input.
Thank you in advance for your help so far!

Um...
During the loop test, K and L must not be connected.
On the car side, only provide mass (ground) and 12V to the adapter. K and L remain "open"! Gruß Ulf

Okay, I've noticed that now.
'I was just having a problem where my USB-to-RS232 adapter was producing incorrect output. Specifically, it was sending a signal on the L-line but not on the K-line. That's why I thought that the L and K lines should be connected, since data can only be received through the K-line.'
But apparently, it's not working quite right with my adapter.
I've now tested it on my desktop PC, and it seems to be working perfectly (at least the loop test). I haven't tried VGA yet.
I think I'm going to have to buy a different adapter.
Well, thank you for your help. If I need anything again, I'll get in touch.
Best regards,
Patrick.
