I have a Golf IV, 130 horsepower TDI, manufactured in February 2002. Previously, I had a multifunction steering wheel and used it to control the cruise control. Now, the VW dealer has installed a VW sport steering wheel and a new turn signal lever so that I can control the cruise control with the turn signal lever in the future.
After (what was normally a trouble-free) installation of the sports steering wheel, I can now no longer use the cruise control, even with the new turn signal stalk. It is possible to turn the cruise control on and off using the slider (the indicator light illuminates, so you can assume the cruise control is activated), but the speed adjustment using the rocker switch on the turn signal stalk does not work at all.
The VW workshop has now informed me that they will be conducting an extensive troubleshooting process for me on Monday, as the mechanic is at a loss. Can anyone give me a tip as to what problem might have occurred when the cruise control function was moved from the steering wheel to the turn signal stalk?
