Hi there!
Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution to my problem with the automatic transmission in any forum, but I believe I've found the best place to post my question here.
My VW Passat TDI 1.9l 81kw AFN – Automatic transmission 4G Type 01N - Built 1997, currently 196,000 km
At a mileage of 165,000 km, the following issues occurred:
Between 1800 and 2400 upm in gears 3 and 4, with a constant speed, there is a pulsating engagement and disengagement of the torque converter. (RPM fluctuations of 150 upm). Also, a noticeable slipping of the clutch is also noticeable, as well as sudden disconnection of the WK around 3800 RPM under full load.
Fault memory indicated: Faulty converter coupling!
VAG Workshop recommended a new gearbox (disposable part like an oil filter)? But unfortunately, it's too expensive!)
So, VAG manufactures the gearbox – Automatik Berger GmbH, Oberostendorf (Excellent Company) overhauls the gearbox plus new torque converter and control box.
VAG is rebuilding.
And everything is back to normal, things are running smoothly.
Unfortunately, only
20.000 km and the same problems again.

I can't stick to 20,000 steps every day.
ATF quantity and condition in the transmission are ok, no errors detected. Z. in memory.
Is it possible that the transmission is actually functioning correctly, but that only incorrect sensor values or data, or a faulty adjustment, are causing a low oil pressure to be delivered to the WK, as described in some posts? Or, or?
Who can I get a new transmission from?
Greetings from the Coast
