GRA System Problem: DTC 000671 (1Z Engine)

I'm having a problem with my graphics card. Here's a brief overview:
Passat 1994 with 1Z engine.
Engine control unit 028906021FC with coding 00011.

The control unit is permanently reporting error code 00671 (only when GRA is active). All bits in display group 6/4 are toggling as they should, except for the second bit from the right, which is always set to 1.
'When I plug in the control lever, the bit is still set. Only when I deactivate the GRA using the value 16167 in the configuration tool does it become 0.'

What's going on?

Error 671 means:

Switch for GRA E45: Undefined switch state.

Causes:

- E45 malfunction.
- Service interruptions.
- Short circuit in the wiring.

Thank you for the quick response. The cables and switches have all been checked and are in good condition. Do you have any idea what might be triggering the 'tipping' (or whatever the issue is)? That would help me focus my search. Unfortunately, my information is very limited.

The StG is a VW replacement part. Do you know why it's encoded with '00011'?

Check the archive; Rainer had similar problems with his GRA before.


Your MSA 12 STG has been replaced with an MSA 15 STG, which must then be coded using the code mentioned above.
