Hello everyone,

After having thoroughly researched technical articles and search results, I haven't found any reports with an identical symptom pattern. My A4 with 110 hp has recently started acting up. When accelerating, the engine normally pushes forward up to about 2200 rpm; then it seems to 'explode' (more so than before). After a brief second, it regulates back down and continues to accelerate somewhat worse than normal. Could this be related to the VTG (variable turbine geometry), even though the turbocharger adjustment is smooth, the hoses are tight and not kinked? Or could a faulty mass airflow sensor (MAF) also cause such a symptom pattern? Otherwise, the car actually drives normally; there's no excessive soot or anything like that.

Thank you.
paco

Hi,

It would be useful to either a) test a different mass airflow sensor or b) check the actual mass airflow values.
It could also be something else. -> Read the error memory.

Best regards, Rainer.

@Rainer K.
According to the workshop, there's nothing in the error memory, and I already asked if they could try installing a different mass airflow sensor (MAF) just for testing purposes - but they refused. Their exact words were: 'What do you want? The car is running!' icon_eek.gif
Well, maybe I can borrow something like that privately sometime.

Try cleaning the LMM (likely referring to a mass airflow sensor) with brake cleaner first. It sometimes works wonders.

A simple swap of the mass airflow sensor (MAF) with a friend once helped me. After that, I had no more problems, and neither has he to this day. Strange, but true.

Hello,

Air mass meters are no longer that expensive; for example, at Stahlgruber, they cost around €75, which is before your discount.
New part, not a replacement.
If so, then choose Pierburg 7.22684.08.0 (Stahlgruber number 456 6124). icon_wink.gif
I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes with these statements. If I am, please let me know, and I will refrain from making similar comments in the future.
I just have one of those things lying on the table right now.

Hope this helps you.
