Are rear door speaker wires already pre-installed in the G4?

Hi.
I want to retrofit speakers in the rear doors of my 'new' G4 Special (03/2002). From the factory, it came with an Alpha 5 (which looks like a Beta) that is being replaced with a CD tuner. Are the speaker cables already pre-wired to the rear doors from the factory, or do the cables need to be painstakingly run from the front to the back? icon_confused.gif

Well, it's not that difficult. Normally, they are not installed that way from the factory.

I also think there won't be any cables there (those days are over at VW), at least there weren't any in my 1998 Passat.
It takes a bit of work. Since everything is glued together and not screwed, you should expect relatively high stress concentrations on the plastic parts. The rubber grommets on the doors were a tight fit for me.

And you'll need new speaker grilles for the rear speakers, as the old ones are likely damaged (or "deaf"), and depending on the type of speaker, you might also need an adapter frame. However, none of this will cost a fortune.

So, in my case, there were no cables included.
Installing the part on the 4-door model through the rubber bellows is not a problem. The grilles were also permeable in my case. LS-distance rings are needed because otherwise the speakers would protrude too far into the door.

To run the cables, carefully remove the lower B-pillar trim (be careful of the seatbelt pretensioners).
Depending on where you want to run the cables, you may also need to remove the center console.

If you are laying separate HT cables, you will need to attach the switch to the door frame; I had to improvise a bit to do that.

If you obtain the crimping tools, you can plug the LS cables into the original connectors.

Okay.
It worked perfectly. Fortunately, the covers were 'porous,' so none of them needed to be replaced.
