After it was raining all day yesterday, I'm surprised to find a puddle the size of a plate on the floor mat in the passenger footwell.
Water is dripping down from under the glove compartment (towards the center console).

A few weeks ago, my windshield was replaced, and perhaps that's the cause. However, if I bring the car to the mechanic, and it turns out it's not related to that, I might still end up having to pay the bill.

I suspect water is entering through the area of the pollen filter. It was also slightly damp. The maintenance cover for the pollen filter covers the top, but in my case, it's torn (thanks to a VW mechanic with poor fine motor skills), although it's been like that for a while. However, water has never entered through there before.

I've noticed that the metal panel below the windshield is wet from the bottom. There shouldn't be any water getting there, right?

hello

If your windshield has been replaced, I would first check if the water leak might be caused by a defect, improper adhesion, or a faulty seal.

otherwise, see the link and search. icon_biggrin.gif

Yesterday, I took a closer look at the area around the pollen filter. The pollen filter was wet, which clearly indicates that water had entered here. The pollen filter is covered from above by a maintenance hatch, which, thanks to the gentle handling of a mechanic, was torn in my case. I have now replaced this hatch. Nevertheless, I'm surprised that so much water has gotten into this area, and I'm not sure if this is normal.
I couldn't find anything wrong with the windshield seal. Now, I'll wait for the next rain to see if it's still leaking.

It was astonishing how much water was inside the fan housing. Fortunately, there's a chamber there that can hold a significant amount of water before it reaches the fan itself.
