Hello, I often drive on gravel roads during my vacations. Is there a simple way to raise the car's ride height?

YES, Bilstein B4 shock absorbers icon_smile.gif.

This is not entirely meant seriously, but my G3 is noticeably higher icon_evil.gif since the original shock absorbers were replaced with B4 gas shock absorbers (which are essentially the same as the original ones).

Hey guys,

If it's a GIV, there's an off-road suspension that raises the body by about 3-4 cm. However, it looks absolutely terrible. icon_biggrin.gif

Hi!

Okay, I once had a Golf 2 Syncro with 90 horsepower and an automatic transmission, and I modified it like this:

1. All interior components, from the rear.

2. Side windows, welded shut with sheet metal.

Rear complete suspension legs from a Passat 32b Syncro, specifically the off-road suspension version, designed for increased load capacity.

4. Complete front shock absorbers from a Passat 35i TDI.

5. The rear differential lock can be manually engaged (otherwise, it engages automatically when reversing).

Result:

Ground clearance of 35cm under the sills and extreme off-road capability!

and I really tried it out extensively... some Jeep drivers couldn't believe their eyes. icon_twisted.gif

Of course, this car has never been to a technical inspection (TÜV) or a traffic control (thankfully for me!). icon_wink.gif

Hello Edgar,

For the rear, there are additional springs that can be easily installed inside the normal springs.

You can find these on camper vans or in vehicles converted to run on gas. I have a price of around 150 Deutschmarks in mind. I don't know how it works with the TÜV (German technical inspection). But it looks quite original.

Good luck.

Rainer.

Alternatively, you can find rings in the DTS catalog that are designed to be placed between the spring and the spring seat. These rings have a V-shaped profile on both sides. They allow you to increase the ride height without making the suspension excessively stiff, and they also help to maintain the overall suspension tuning.
