This "rubber damper" or, more accurately, the hub, comes in different versions depending on the motor. These versions include: a small hub only (where the ZR wheel is attached), a small hub with a sensor ring, or a version where a type of "vibration damper" is mounted around the small hub.
In all cases, however, the part that connects the inner wheel to the outer wheel is not made of rubber, but of metal, with a material similar to that of the inner wheel. Therefore, there should be no stretching or deformation in that area.
Quite the opposite - if it's successfully attached and the new one is improperly screwed on, it will break in the middle.
However, it's possible that in the latest version, the sensor ring is connected to the hub via the rubber of the "vibration damper." If this rubber were to soften and twist towards the axle, it could potentially cause the value detected by the sensor to deviate, while the actual position of the camshaft remains correct.
