both with CYP?

Oh, the 1Z lemon-flavored candies are closer together, with values of 178 and 175.
But I was in a good position with 193.

Damn, now I need an ASD... icon_twisted.gif

Hi,
"Yes, both have CYP gearboxes! It's likely that the AFN model wasn't given a longer-ratio gearbox because it already reached a top speed of 196 km/h with the shorter one. Also, the AFN engine was only used for a short time in the 3-series sedan (02.96-06.97). Perhaps it was a cost-saving measure?"

Okay, I'm definitely going to get an ASD soon, and then I'll also get the 216 injectors to go with it. That should give my Variant a real boost in performance.

My thoughts on this:
To the best of my knowledge, the newer TDI models are designed such that the maximum power output also corresponds to the maximum speed.
Furthermore, I assume that the 1Z and AFN engines have the same maximum power output at the same engine speed.

According to my data, the AFN/AVG has a maximum power output of 4150 RPM (110 horsepower), and the...
AHU/AHH engines produce 90 horsepower at 4000 RPM, which I believe is also the case for the 1Z engine.

As a general rule for the long 5th gear described above: at 3000 rpm, the speed is 160 km/h.

Unfortunately, I no longer remember the exact values for what my ASD (Air/Fuel Ratio) used to be. I believe it was around 220 at 4500 rpm.

Now everyone can form their own opinion...

With the ASD engine, a speed of 120 km/h is reached at 2500 RPM. And I believe it was 140 km/h at 3000 RPM.

It seems like shifting to the 5th gear is quite straightforward in the Golf.
Does anyone have an idea how much work it is to do on a Passat 3B? It has a longitudinally mounted engine, unlike the Golf which has a transversely mounted engine.
Has anyone in this forum already done this on a 3B Passat with an AFN engine?

I'm not sure what you mean by "newer," but that definitely doesn't apply to the ASV (Getriebe EWZ - which hasn't really been seen here before) in the Ibiza. The maximum power is reached at 4000 RPM... and at top speed, it's around 4300-4400 RPM, depending on the conditions.

Best regards,
