Speculation:
Perhaps the power outage is due to the WFS (Workforce Management System)?
Off-topic.

You are right, not at all anymore... But as a V6 driver, I've already been punished enough, and you're still treating me like an outsider .

Okay,
It was the weekend, it was dry, it was sunny, and the car was only 14 days old.
I cleaned the trekking pole thoroughly and then disassembled it... well, I removed the two covers .
The beeping sound is coming from the servo motor of the control valve.
I don't know why not all EURO4 TDI engines make that noise, because, as far as I know, they all have an EGR valve.
As always, for better orientation, I've included a picture of the part.

Great! Puzzle solved - and then another one pops up ...
So, Jochen_145 was right in his assumption that the intake manifold perfectly transmits the whistling sound.
However, I now also need to see if Audi is skimping on the "rubber sock" on the intake manifold, apparently... Or is that part now completely made of plastic ?
Regards,
Pete.

Don't remind me.
The part is made entirely of plastic!
But I'll just put carbon-look stickers from the ATU range on it, then it will look better .

Well, the main thing is that weight has been saved! Also, it has worse heat conduction, which means increased performance due to a constant supply of cool air! And if the EGR system has been affected, just replace it!
Regards,
Pete.

That's right, it only costs EUR 350 - whether it's the metal version (03G 129 711 G) or the plastic version (03G 129 711 AF).

I've edited something above.
Does your BMN also beep?

Yes, sorry, I just re-read the text above.
It's strange that only the 16V models are beeping. It seems the manufacturer of the control flaps made a mistake. After all, VW has been using PWM control flaps for quite some time.
I also have the feeling that the beeping is getting louder over time.
Next, we have the motor, that protruding sausage-like part, and something else that's been packed. Then things should be quieter again. Because even just the loose cover already makes a difference.

PS: These plastic parts were introduced with the Passat model 3C, starting with production number 7 120 000, so it hasn't been that long.
He used to have the G version as well.

Nope... My AXR has been doing that since 2001, and it's not a 16V .

Okay, so are *all* the check valves going to fail?
But why haven't I heard about this before (neither through hearsay nor from experiencing it myself with regulated TDIs), and why hasn't anyone complained yet?
Hmm. Maybe it does have something to do with the 16V engine, because it has the throttle valve at the front. And you can hear it much better there than with the 8V, which is nicely wedged between the splash guard and the cylinder head.

Hi Bertil.
I couldn't have known that the topic had already been discussed on the forum using an AXR model, and if I had searched for "noise," I would still be reading even after I no longer own the Passat.
Quote: | | The search yielded 542 results. |
But never mind. The 16V engine is making a strange noise and seems to be open at the front, so it's roaring loudly... therefore, a neck brace is needed.
