Have you already ordered or received the taillight part from the right-hand side driver?
Looks very symmetrical and definitely great.
Please create a before-and-after image.
"Unfortunately, a trade-in with me won't work, as I have already ordered the LED RL."
If there were also a separate right-hand drive version, I would also switch to symmetry.

Nothing has been ordered yet.
But I recently saw an American 3C at a dealer.
Without the "inflamed pimple", it looks much better.
I'm still saving up 56 EUR...

Now, start the process... It needs to be there tomorrow. Planting then, sometime at night... Unfortunately, only the camera is broken.

Hello Martin,
Have you already completed the renovation, or is the light still pending?
I tried it out over the weekend.
The lamp is too dark for me personally.
In my opinion, it is sufficient at best for use as a parking light.
How do you see it?

Hi,
I haven't heard anything new, and when I asked a few days ago, she was still behind schedule.
I had previously installed auxiliary lights in the rear turn signals and had them set to "NSL" (presumably "Not Street Lighting").
I initially perceived both as having the same brightness, and subsequently ordered the rear light.

Your lights were just as bright . But that's very strange.
Did you order the lamps from the same shop as me?
I tried both lamps, but they both shone (burned) very dimly.
What's going on with my car? I don't understand...
If they were both equally bright, I would definitely install them again right away.

Hm, I'll give it a try in the dark.
As I mentioned, I had the original NSL compared directly to the future version (although on the right).
From a technical (or digital photography) perspective, I was unable to capture anything... it was just a subjective impression.

I tested it in daylight.
If the light bulb was operated outside the reflector, you could clearly see the glowing filament.
If you do that with a regular light bulb, it's incredibly bright.
I'm really at a loss as to what's going on. Annoying

If I look at the apple, it doesn't seem to be as "mirrored" or "reversed" as it appears.
Therefore, it is possible that the reflector actually directs these rays forward.
I'll try it out at night with a "solar eclipse viewing film," because then you can really see through it and the differences are at a level that the eye can recognize and tolerate (or the film lets nothing through at all

I've also noticed the same problem with reflector-equipped turn signals. The lights that looked the best only provided low-beam illumination. The ones that provided decent illumination flickered yellow or orange when turned off. If the reflector is stronger at the top, then this shouldn't be a problem. However, the reflector surface should be sufficiently illuminated to achieve the required brightness.

Okay
Maxx is right, those things are darker.
However, I don't see it as such a big deal. While the camera might not capture it perfectly, the eye perceives it better, as the light is more orangish, so not such a deep red.

Thank you for the picture, Martin!
So, if my lamp would shine as brightly as yours, then I would be satisfied.
I will try to take a similar photo tonight as well.
I received an offer today that I could get a red Osram Diadem.
I still don't know the price. A "pear" like that now costs around 10 EUR.
It should be approximately as bright as the original NSL.
As soon as I have the pictures, I will post them.

Looks convincing! Is the brightness satisfactory?
I have now installed the same accessory on my Suzuki and will be installing a reversing light from the right-hand side. I am still having trouble with the fact that the interior fog light has a mirrored reflector, while the reversing light is only painted white. Perhaps that's also the difference in brightness that you described?
Regarding the legal question: Unfortunately, the conversion is not permitted. The reversing light has a different approval mark than the fog light, which means that the approval mark imposes a specific purpose. That should definitely be the case with the Passat as well.
However, the need to use the fog light will remain very limited in the northern Berlin area - as it is not often foggy here. Therefore, I also see it quite calmly.
Reverting to the original factory settings is quite straightforward on my vehicle: Simply unscrew a cross-head screw, remove the light unit from the bumper, and replace it completely. For HU, this is swapped within a minute, and otherwise, it won't interest anyone.
As a comparison image, I have attached a link to the rear view of my vehicle. On the left, it also turns white. I would also be interested in the gray-red taillights of the US version, where the yellow part is gray. But without "E", it is not allowed. Unfortunately...
