... so that the daytime running lights look "better"?

The Golf 6 Plus with Xenon headlights has such a high TFL (light transmission factor), and I want to improve it.

Yes, they exist! However, they are always without or without a valid E-mark (approval mark). Take a look on the online marketplace, select only "Buy it Now" and "search worldwide." And order more than just two pieces. You never know how long the Chinese-made products will last.

I've also seen headlights with Chinese LED clusters installed in them. They are also not approved for road use, but they are becoming less noticeable these days. Price-wise, they are probably not that different anymore. Delivery times from Taiwan or China are usually about 2 weeks.

Weird.

Why don't they have the ABE approval, and I specifically got blue side marker lights from the factory so they would match the xenon headlights better?!

There are blue P21W bulbs with the E-mark. However, they then also emit blue light! The German Road Traffic Regulations (StVZO) do not specify any use for these on passenger cars or trucks. Therefore, the E-mark is somewhat questionable... icon_cool.gif

"Look for some lamps with a more subdued tone! They exist, and they should have a similar effect to your light blue accent light, which emits a cool white glow."

The W5W indicator lights in blue are usually Philips BlueVision at VW, and they are legal, and they emit white light without a significant yellow tint, but they are not blue icon_smile.gif.

I mainly use them because of their durability – especially in my Octavia, the license plate lights burn out very quickly. With these, they usually last 20-30,000 km. And the two parking lights in the headlights have now been in for 110,000 km.

He was talking about P21s, which are, for example, the 21W lamps with a bayonet base that are used for brake, turn signal, or tail lights. Or for his daytime running lights. icon_wink.gif You meant W5W with a T10 base.

Subject: Rear Hatch License Plate Lights: The filament wires in these lights are extremely fragile and prone to breaking when the rear hatch is closed. Ideally, incandescent bulbs with centrally positioned filament wires should be used. Take a close look at them, because Philips and Osram versions of the W5W bulb no longer have this feature.

For license plate lights, I would always prefer the incandescent bulb version, which is more resistant to vibration and has a central filament positioning. Most manufacturers offer these with 3W instead of 5W. Their lifespan is even better, and they are bright enough for the license plate.

Okay, I understand. Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.

That just referred to my previous statement about the blue indicator lights...

Yes, the taillights tend to leak easily if you have the lights on and close the trunk... but once they're replaced, I'll have BMW install LED license plate lights.

Greetings.

Okay. icon_wink.gif You can see the BMW license plate lights more and more frequently on the highways. They are actually very bright, especially compared to the aftermarket Chinese LEDs.

Just as a side note: I could bring two white LED clusters with a P21d socket to the meeting. They would have a tail light/brake light function, similar to 21/5W bulbs. Alternatively, they could be installed in the front as daytime running lights with a dimming function for the parking light function. However, you would need the appropriate housings for them. If necessary, you could solder a wire bridge and use them only as daytime running lights. Of course, this is not approved, but probably not many people would notice... icon_rolleyes.gif

If I manage to get them by the meeting, I'll bring my LED taillights for the Octavia.

I managed to obtain about 30 LED brake light circuit boards from a reliable source. I desoldered all the LEDs from them and then grouped the Superflux LEDs onto rectangular circuit boards.

It's incredibly bright, but it was just a test to see if it would actually work in real life. I just need to buy some more adhesive and stick them on.

They are controlled by the standard ballasts used for retrofitting LED taillights, which then dim via PWM... that's the theory, and that's completely off-topic... icon_wink.gif

Great! icon_cool.gif Soon, I'll also be installing 60 Superflux LEDs and various other "idiot lights" icon_lol.gif in my 206.

But theoretically, there should also be ready-made LED taillights available for the Octavia I. These would at least have the correct markings... icon_wink.gif

Pay attention, our Polish friends are already using these things quite a lot, especially on routes heading west. They probably only buy them from dealerships or online retailers... Or are they all modifications?

Well,

It shouldn't be too obvious or illegal.

It's about 2 Golfs, specifically models that were popular with the generation before me.
It's possible that something had changed, since P21W bulbs are almost exclusively used for tail lights these days.
At the back, someone said, "No one makes things like that anymore." icon_smile.gif

"@ dieselmartin: If you come to the meeting with the Golf+, we can try out those LED things. I'll solder in a temporary connection as a preparation, so we can test them out. Regardless, the car has approval for use with halogen bulbs and the corresponding test markings on the headlights. If the bulbs are reasonably accessible, we can install them for a photo... icon_wink.gif"

@ TDI-GTI-4-Motion: Then they must have other sources for acquiring parts, or more skilled mechanics.

Hm,

The golf clubs will not have been delivered by then.
And I don't go out of my way to pick up the company Skoda (Octavia 1Z, also P21W TFL) icon_wink.gif from my brother-in-law.
