Hi.

Okay, so with my clutch, everything is normal when the pedal is fully depressed. It only jerks at the engagement point when I slowly release the pedal.

Best regards,

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'Didl' is a German word that means 'a small amount of something.' It can be used to describe anything from a tiny speck of dust to a large pile of sand.

Here are some examples of how to use 'Didl' in a sentence:

* There was only a didl of sugar left in the jar.
* The children were playing with a didl of sand on the beach.
* He had a didl of money saved up for his trip.

I hope this helps!

Hi!

Clutch discs are uneven due to wear or oil on the linings. Is there an oil leak somewhere? (Audi 80 = older car with high mileage?) Could it be a leaking seal?

Best regards,
Uwe

Hi,

Please verschandeln the area at the junction between the engine block and the transmission icon_rolleyes.gif, removing all dirt and oil. Then, observe whether it becomes oily again after a few days. If it does, it's likely that the seal is leaking. icon_rolleyes.gif

If that's the case, you can essentially start from scratch.
Downshift the gears, replace the oil seal, and hope that you can still use the clutch... that's what it was like for me, at least.

I'm not sure if the 1Z also has that "sound-dampening" plastic cover above the oil pan. You should probably remove it before attempting something like that.
In my case, oil had accumulated inside, and during the ride, it probably leaked out from time to time. That's why there was oil in places where there shouldn't have been any.

Regarding my clutch: It actually only slips in the first two gears.
Otherwise, I am absolutely satisfied with it. I would definitely buy another one, and with a little practice, it works wonderfully.
(Except for these sounds icon_wink.gif).
What happens next is a good question. It depends on what else might happen as a result. If things stay like this, I definitely won't be replacing the clutch again anytime soon. However, if there's also a risk to the transmission or something similar, then I would have to reconsider.
Well, if I'm going to do it, then I might as well replace the bearings in the transmission at the same time. You have to think positively, you know }.

See you later.
Thomas.

Hi Thomas,

Could you tell me how to remove the plastic cover over the oil pan? icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif
On my 1Z, the cover was located below the oil pan! Oh, and yes, the G3 1Z has a lower engine cover.

I believe that oil leaking from the crankshaft seal is likely the most common cause of problems with the clutch.

Hello there!

He he, you really have to be careful about what you write here! icon_smile.gif
I was wrong... it's plugged into the oil pan from below!
Okay!

Since we're already talking about it, what does this thing do?
Subjectively speaking, my sound is the same with a cover on as it is without one.
Stone guard for the oil pan?

So, if we all agree on this, how do we solve the problem that even new simmer rings quickly become leaky again?

I once heard that after many kilometers and years, a shaft seal can sometimes become harder than the metal it's made of.
If that's true, it would be kind of silly/stupid.
I mean, I know that my crankshaft seal will probably start leaking again after about 30,000 km, but I think it should last a little longer. Luckily, the oil is only seeping out very, very slowly!

See you later.
Thomas.

Hello,

'I've been experiencing a problem with the clutch making noise in first and second gear for about 30,000 kilometers. In my case, I suspect the crankshaft seal.'

Regards,

Tobias.

I can't verschandeln the area where the engine connects to the transmission because it's not oily.

"Hi, I'm experiencing the same problem as Thomas. Since I converted my ALH engine from a single-mass flywheel (SMF) and original clutch to an original G60 clutch, I've been having this issue. The release bearing is new. Although it was used, the clutch appeared to be in almost perfect condition. I also experience the described jerking in the first two gears. The clutch passed the test (handbrake engaged, start in 3rd gear with throttle – the engine should stall), performing very well. Otherwise, it engages perfectly. However, there's this specific jerking. It can be somewhat mitigated by either engaging the clutch very quickly or slowly and carefully."
Should I start saving for a new one already, or do you think that's premature...?
